Omens
Birds fled from the sky
Cinder of clouds dry for rain --
The lightning forks night

The landscape is bare
The water recedes to deep -
Tsunami rises

The earth belches smoke
Thundering hooves char the leaves -
Volcano erupts....

The Story of Life
The story of life is brief,
Like that of a shooting star.
Brilliance flames as autumn leaf
On tree before winter's char.
Then fading in the distance,
It burns itself to dust;
Extinquished from existence,
Its brevity unjust....

Forgotten Friend
Here I am again,
A forgotten friend.
Wishing I could be
Important to you,
As you were to me.

Now you love him...
Life's paradigm
is shriveling,
blackened to char.

You are there,
He, with you.
I am lost.

Missing.
Wishing.

Gone....

Sun's Flash
From my window morning arrives;

Bringing a flashed ray of sunrise

Along with gold lilies

And pearl-like carnations.

Darting out, I gasp heavily

Fiery beams of heat char my skin.

In Love Inferno
Our love still burns within
Great fire char black our bones
Enrage of inferno
Our hearts cannot contain
Blistering jealous pain

For blasts of passion's sin
Whose heat melt solid stones
Eruption's lava flow
Til quenching of the rain
Reveal our bodies slain...

Art Is
Artists work the hardest
Trying to start this
Its where the heart is
Being modest, don't know what the cost is
Should I toss this?
Or should I char this?
Reach for the farthest
It's a star quest
In the starkness
Bringing light from the darkness
You might wanna hark this
Before the spark is
Completely thoughtless...

A Simple Man - Cl
I've always been a simple man
But all of that is long before
I found her name is Mary Ann
And she reads poems by the shore

I have written poems galore -
I'll write a sonnet in the sand
Then she will see down in my core
That I am a renaissance man

World Brought From Afar
World Brought From Afar

Wherever I am, the world comes to me.
I speak not of cyberspace but from connections much older than we.
Through the air I breathe with dust perchance from Nepal;
Water from oceans, as snow or rain from clouds it will fall;
Food in particular, even arctic char;
All these bring me the world naturally from afar....

Premium Member Neon Lights - Cl
The city lights of neon flash
To dull sounds of the traffic flow
 Upon the sidewalks footsteps crash
As people bustle to and fro

A city that never moves slow
For time is money, in cold cash
Getting caught in its neon glow
They seem to be in a mad dash

Premium Member In Twilight Hours
In twilight hours I find my peace.
Day’s obligations have been met.
It’s time to find my soul’s release
while over hills sun starts to set.

Life’s trials will go on, and yet
with meditation, worries cease.
The balm of calm I wish to get
while seeing heaven turn cerise.

The sun above us in the sky
provides for life on earth each day.
It’s like a big hot apple pie
that shines a slice of warmth our way.

We thank God for each streaming ray
that awakens the morning eye.
In sleep, in work, in rest and play
the smiling old sun passes by.

Premium Member Harmonious Flow Cl
On paths of frozen ice and snow
With bitter cold air all around
I just seek to know, where to go
To make it work with what I found

To walk quiet, without a sound
Of cracking ice and things I know
Snow piled in burdens by the pound
Waiting for harmonious flow

Hollow
Your
emotional tornado
my unjustly sentence
rips through each dying organ

Powerful devouring,
Leaving infinite gaping holes

But my heart,
my heart
is slowly shredded,
piece by anguished piece

Igniting the flames that char my soul

Shadowed remains of what once was
Now eternally etched with darkness

With nothing left to feel
Not even hate...

Premium Member Spring Birds - Cl
Robins are a delight to see
When winter snow is almost gone
To see them chirp and bounce with glee
And hear songbirds singing at dawn

An eagle soars, mighty and brawn
Flying, circling the sky so free
Feeders full, hummingbirds are drawn
Bird watching is joyous to me

A Golden Egg
For Charley, I write a char-lay
a piece with extra twist bar none.
Dull thought laid aside for a day
shar-penning a lay just for fun.

When it comes to how words are spun,
some eggheads plain don't want to play.
Soft-shell poets away they run
unafraid of eggs they may lay.

Dissociation
The gaze of strangers grills me to perfection
and I stew in all my fat.
It burns; I roast; I char into numbness.
I float around the carcass
as cooked sinew and boiling juices.
My being discarded with the offal
My skin is fried
I punch my thighs
but my fists go through tender meat.
I lay here as a shell of what I could be
My thoughts beyond the galaxy
You'll never find me...

Premium Member Char Is In Social Media Jail
Char is in social media jail.
She has been kicked off for one month.
No idea why, she tells me.
Isn’t this the third time? I ask her.

“Sixteenth time,” Char says. Then she laughs.
I suggest she stop posting political views on her page.
That’s the only reason I am on social media, she tells me.
A month later she gets kicked off after one hour.
No idea why, she tells me....
