A fleet
of clover feet.
The puddle grunts.
Crouched atop
leafy beds,
groovy eyes
dance.
Croaks and caws,
a symphony.
A quartet
in the woods.

From the cemetery no specters arose
Why the teens then took flight, they did not disclose
What had incurred
Not seen, but heard
Discovered, because of the caws of the crows!

after violence
what we had was reliance
on total silence
down hall would waddle
upset and went full throttle
all about bottle
when in time we froze
suggest and everyone knows
caws would come from crows

whimsical singing
tweets and peeps and caws echo
song bird orchestra
such spring time magic
a delightful lullaby
pure love for season
sun shines so brightly
warming our ponds and meadows
baby robins song

pine coffin’s lowered
into the freshly dug grave
raven caws in tree
in memory of our treasured friend Don whose funeral we attended yesterday

Morning glory bud
Begins to unfurl.
An Eagle flies high
In the morning sky.
Aspen leaves rustle,
Stirred by the wind.
Hope floats above
Feeling refreshed,
Joy swirls within.
Rooster crows,
Raven caws,
Risers yawn
Coffee
Bacon.
Eggs.

The Raven
Blast that raven raps at my chamber door,
Tags truth betold of my lovely Lenore,
Madame, for that she is naught,
Soft Missy girl, I be got,
Caws my pedophile claws forevermore.

Dusk seeps lapis
The horizon looms in blood and coral
Crows emerge from peacock plumes
shrieking caws of darkness
wings flap their incessant onyx
Talon wounds of starlight
multiply and meld
into the coming day
the cover of night perforated
into salmon blooms and cornflowers

cornfield with crows
late autumn snows
without a pause
hear Christian caws
their ochre beaks
black feathered peaks
hearing the squall
speaking of Paul
goodness is good
do what you should
without a pause
like Santa Claus
ravens there too
coming for you
tiresome bore
quoth Nevermore

wake to the sound
the flood outside
the darkness pouring through
the window cracks
the crow caws it
looks for a place to
rest its weary head &
the worms frequent
the slick asphalt
where dirt, debris, ****,
garbage &
the only real semblance
of justice flows
just beneath us all
as something
wonderful
that
we
can
never
get
to.

Red moon rising scanning below
Seeing all, keeping secrets close
Nothing in the night it won't know
Red moon rising
In a haze just slightly morose
To caws of a lone calling crow
Clouds sweeping to briefly engross
Hue in the sky of a fire show
Giving lookers an eerie dose
Wonders along with eyes to grow
Red moon rising

Gray is the day, somber the mood
Clouds so thick emotions just brood
Noisy roosters vent strife
One lone crow across this sky viewed
Caws as he goes with none pursued
Swallows bring sky to life
As they dart, play looking for food
Their wings so angled that is good
Noticed now for unrife
unrife-uncommon
mostly seen in summer
here...

Tail-rhyme
The crow perch upon the death tree
Listens for the night wind whispering
Names of expired souls
In the glow of moonlight
He wings toward Heaven
Grasping spirits fleeing life
Gather in his claws
He returns to deaths arms
And for a seed of corn
He releases the dead
At daybreak he caws
Than rest his feathers
On his favorite bare branch

The sweet smell of
Spring in the air
Heaven has spoken
As the birds sing I hear
Cardinals and robins
Wrens all so brown
Nuthatches and sparrows
Flying all around
And the crow in
A far away place
Caw caws so loud
Puts a smile on my face
Serendipity’s sweetness
A pleasure as well
Spring flowers blooming
A blessing to smell

The birds ballet, with no applause.
A butterfly's wings, give me pause.
A visiting calico, comes to me and hands me her soft claw.
I hear in the distance, crows singing their caws.
I bow my head in gratitude for all these, the Creator's awes!

Soaring above the bushfire's flames,
astounded crows, blacker than charred
tree trunks, flap spectral wings.
Numb with loss, no caws drone out.
Wind rushes in updrafts from
the smoky heat: to rise as a vengeful spirit,
to hammer at fleeing pinions,
to witness aimless circles above coal black trees,
now absent of rough stick nests.

It seemed a million jabbering crows
And a black fragmenting of sky,
The murder caws, the shadow grows
A frantic pile upon the wide eye.
They clustered trees and pile the lines
Sizzling with power; evening came
In a pandemonium of noise, our minds
Dark curtains parted with flame.
Yet we look, and look at burning night
And did not understand the sight.

The rising sun's fingers cast beams
As the truck's tires sing as it comes along
The crow now has arisen to caw
The lookout caws like something is wrong
There across the way the dove coos
A crow up the road caws too
In the oak tree an unusual sound
Such peace proclaimed brand new
