To submit or to quit, that is the question!
Let’s call a spade a spade, not to be rude,
Some contests’ stipulations are quite crude,
It’s time to learn from errors of the past
And slam the needy judges’ tricks at last.
Don’t get me wrong, to challenges I stand
With my poetic musing on demand,
Yet reading contest rules, thorough and deep,
Oft my quivering quill begins to weep.
While my head spins and ink’s eager to spill
I begin to doubt if I ever will -
Weave thoughts to words together on the theme
Upon the requisitions of extreme.
I do eulogize the creative sense
Of judges’ hopes from our mighty pens,
Just don’t impede too hard on muse in use,
Let the great meandering minds run loose.
Last not least, what truly boils my bile -
When it’s a must to add a YouTube file,
First open the link, then share to embed,
By then my literary mind’s brain-dead.

End of Life
Diminishing light of moon, fading twinkle of star
Another ebbing sunrise now showcase every scar
As our days of youth depart, conclusion will give chase
A drawn and jaded vessel, requisitions the end of the race
Impart acquired wisdom attained from future past
Finish steady and strong, victory is not for the fast

Random blackout seizure disorder
Of space time stairwell left to wear
Quickly flames ghastly formless suffer
Sprinkle spring showers drown
Fractal mist string melody
From Carnival's side show act of comedy
Sketch drawn skewer skits flash
Figurines in dance gown tears
Watching presence moon lit frights
Presentation scenes
Unkind behind wishful
Requisitions been denied
Head ways upon strange days
Mystery novel hero burns away
Clatter clash seas’ roaming waves
Frenzied feast flight saves
Peevish night lives delay
Badly needful daybreak
Frailty heals our surface broken scars
Trailing breadcrumb souls depart
Wandering thickets torn apart
Steam ship’s last land shadow’s
Ahead distant port horizon
Leaving lasting barren impression

THE RESOLUTION - Elex Williams
New year, new transitions
A whole new edition
Full of new propositions
Forming of old and new coalitions
Some are prosperous
But others are just us wishin'
New standards and requisitions
Resurrections of retired ambitions
Staring over the horizons
At seemingly impossible inquisitions
Pressed the reset button on all competition
The incredible “what ifs...”
That haunted last year's missions
Here we go again with that same old tradition
Selling ourselves short without proper commission
But only in a new rendition
Putting ourselves into suspicion
Time to alleviate the superstitions
Faith is a part of our addition
Mental wholeness and nutrition
Putting doubts and sins into remission
And with your permission
I'd like to conclude this intermission
By hoping that what I wrote can help support intuitions
And I pray that many of our dreams come into fruition.
Once again, we are blessed to be back in this position...
