Years ago back from school
We saw our father atop a stool
Trying to fix a plank within the grove
Too delighted we were at this move
We threw our bags and ran out
My turn my turn each one did shout
Father fixed it on strongest branch of the tree
So we could swing back and forth free
We tossed for the turn
Patience was hard to learn
on the swing each one tried to reach the sky
Full force each one did apply
Each one got ten miniutes for this
Usually our tution time we did miss
Annoyed was our mother when she learnt the fact
One day she hid the plank but the rope was intact
Next day the rope was cut
To refix it we didn't have the guts
Now after decades I fixed one for my kids
They swang hard without batting their eyelids
The same behaviour they repeated
Impatiently waited to be seated
I fixed the time for them to go to the swings
They took it so high as if they had wings
It was fun watching them and recalling
Sometimes the swing went so high it was appalling
Swings will always be dear
To the kids far and near.
