The Scripture Was Visible
For years I kept that scripture out
In plain view, in a spot
On a rounded backsplash in sight
So, I'd not God's name blot
When I answered the business phone
At our house, free labor
Until we could afford to hire
Someone like a neighbor
At last, I got a pay increase
Double in my wages
And now I get social security
That reflects the dark ages
God has been good to me in ways
I can't truly explain
His word uplifts, inspires, directs
So, I can't complain
The business has fed us, paid bills
Along the way some fun
We did some things others could not.
At life, we had a good run
Now that the end of life is close
I know that God can hear
I want to revere His word still
I long to go without fear
