Just a trifle
‘Twas the night before Christmas
When I started the chore
Of making the trifle
As I’d done before
I’d boiled the kettle
when I realised
I’d forgotten the jelly
what a surprise
So I jumped on my scooter
I took off at speed.
Trying to remember
how much I would need
The shops were so busy,
no room to move.
But I fought my way forward
with a push and a shove
Grabbing the jellies
I flew up the aisle.
The girl on the checkout
Even managed a smile.
When I got home,
I wanted to scream.
Wouldn’t you know it?
I’d forgotten the cream.
