Time Bomb

   Bursting into oblivion,
   Landing on Mars.
   It's not too far.

   Roving over mountains,
   Looking at the clock.
   The town clock has stopped.

Momma said, " Be on time,
                          I have to leave,
                          At a quarter past nine"!

I'm sure it's not too late,
   I have time.
   For one more skate.

   Down the street,
   Across the drive.
   Into the sidewalk.

   "Sakes alive".
   My Momma is standing there.
   She has a glare.

Momma said, "Where have you been?
                       It's a quarter past ten!
My appointment for you at the candy store is at an end.
Now off to do all the rest:
                       Dentist, groceries, and bank."

I missed out on the best.
   No candy for me.
   Just a test.

Too see who can be on time.
   When blasting off.
   Way past the shrubs.

Lifting my shoulders I gave a shrug.
   How can I answer?
   All the places I've been.

   Blasted by a time bomb,
   Without,
   And within.

   Next time,
   I might take a swim.
   Take a waterproof watch.

   Swim under water,
   And watch the clock.
   Tick tock, tick tock.
