Sixty-three Reasons to be thankful

Thank God for the day I was born
in nineteen hundred sixty-one.
For devout and loving parents
who taught me to love God and pray.

Though we were poor, we were content,
our humble home, we did not rent.
My father worked hard to provide
and lived with dignity and pride.

Thank God for a resourceful mom
who managed life with such aplomb.
For three sisters born before me
and the three that came after me.

It takes a village to raise a child.
My village helped to keep me mild.
Thank God for village folks who cared
and for the loving gifts they shared.

I thank God for an alert mind,
and for the body He designed.
For eyes that see and ears that hear,
I’m thankful for another year.

The scholarship to Agri school
plunged me into the college pool.
Thank God for all the things I’ve learned
and for the degrees I have earned.

My church played an important role
in nurturing my childish soul.
I’m thankful for the noble traits
instilled by my religious faith.

I thank God for the following:
for freedom and country living,
a neighborhood free from fighting
and for fresh air and water giving,
for fresh air and clean water giving.

For life, health, and peace providing,
healthy relationships sharing,
varied foods supplied for eating
and healthy juices for drinking.

For His tender care, and keeping,
faithful friends and loved ones caring.
For His watchful eye protecting
and His grace salvation giving.

Thank you, God, for your Holy Word,
that daily keeps my spirit spurred.
For sure salvation full and free
enjoyed by me at three score and three.
