The Rigors

The rigors
Broken wings we oft fly with,
The mistakes of yester-years bound so deep,
Inside hearts so tender,
Without intent to hurt,

Blood spills like tears,
Confirming our daily fears,
Of those we erred,
Those whom the blade did pierce

We live with hope,
Not to tighten that rope,
Break the bridge of breathe,
Of those under our eyes

Clinging to our little minds,
The lessons from learning,
Trying to relieve,
And not deceive

At times 'tis destiny,
That time has come,
To end the long journey,
To stop the pain

Options are many,
We make the best,
And try later the rest,
Faith indeed.
