Get Ready

Before the carbon dioxide, is a breath worth taking
We'd be stranded without the pointed fingers of our finest locators
But even hell frozen over would still leave me bound and shaking

You’re a marionettist to this addiction you’re faking
And we’d be stranded without the pointed needles of our cycloidal navigators
But one keeps you grounded and the other pierces through skin, aching

But grip your conscious tightly, before the shift in altitude destroys your decision making
We’d be carrying empty baskets without our greatest negotiators
But I built a safe space in a snowglobe to avoid the weather patterns we’re mistaking

Sedate the numbness to adapt to the emotions overtaking
Between the green and the grave, we’re too fearful without our bravest investigators
I’m receiving messages through the lasting presence I feel when I’m awaking

The way you looked at me before you left was heartbreaking
I’m stranded in this affliction that paints me the perpetrator
And I would trust you with direction but I’m no good at risk-taking

Of all the empty stares and promises that you’ve been forsaking
You’re stranded in thin air behind the eyes of a rule violator
But you don’t have to be under this spell, so painstaking
We don’t have to deteriorate waiting for something else to start peacemaking
