MY FIRST BORN
So, I can also be a father was the song my anxiety sang in that labour room,
For the past nine months I had watched him grow in his mother's womb,
Now, I was called in to hear his first earthly cry but the pains of labour made my mouth dumb,
And from the burst of the birth sac the amniotic fluid came out to release his head bump.
His appearance in the birth canal mixed my anxiety with fear,
The midwife called out for others to get ready to give the new birth some care,
They suckled out some mucus and spanked his buttocks for my eyes to dare,
Then his cries sneaked in the joy of a new life into the room for all ears to hear.
Oh it's a boy were the words that sent my joy to the moon,
So, my first born was a boy born healthily at around half past noon,
Happiness rushed into the room and placed me on a ride of excitement just too soon,
My wife there laid with weakness too powerless to stop her singing a beautiful tune.
The addition of this little cuty made excitement flew into the room really so fast,
The mood in the room was soaked in his cry and the joy it brought seemed to forever last,
The proud mother wore excitement as she put him to breast that she forgot the pains of an immediate past,
Cute one, welcome to our home and you shall forever be cherished with a love supplied to you vast.
