Corrugated Iron and Rain

Hundreds of sheets of iron on the roof,
Collect every sweet little drop,
Then these hundreds of sheets direct the small river,
Into the open tank top,

And the tank slowly fills with this real liquid gold,
Its belly will slowly expand,
Giving life to everyone throughout the whole year,
Out in this arid dry land.

This rain, it’s so pure, so honest and rich,
Being stored for all of our needs,
For our coffee and washing and cooking and stuff,
We use it when growing our seeds.

Hundreds of sheets of iron collect rain,
From our house and the old shearing shed,
Giving life to us all in a gamble of life,
At this beautiful Australian homestead.
