IF I COULD CHANGE ONE THING
IF I COULD CHANGE ONE THING
If I could change just one thing,
I wouldn’t aim too high.
I doubt if I could save the world,
However hard I try.
I wouldn’t tackle climate change
That’s warming up the sea.
I’d do something really selfish
That benefits just me.
The doctors say what’s good for me
Is vegetables and fruit.
And things I like have fallen
Into disrepute.
So I’d approach the matter
With simple pragmatism.
I’d use my power to alter
My own metabolism.
So then I could eat chocolate
And cream cakes by the score.
I wouldn’t need to study
E-numbers any more.
I’d have six spoons of sugar
In every cup of tea
And shovel it on cereal
Without it hurting me.
And best of all dear reader;
Forgive me if I shout.
I’d never eat another piece
Of broccoli or sprout.
