To My Lost Cat - From a Bereaving Friend
The gloomy day extended into two
Still I am wondering where you are.
Am I the lonely one, a fish out of water
If only you had stayed a little longer
Me thought we were meant to be together
Sweet nymph, you were more like a brother
While my mind thinks of the worst
The anguished heart hopes for the best
Still holding on to the cherished memories
Have you taken abode with the good fairies?
A feeling of loss – will you ever come back?
Hassle yet tender, you have left behind a mark.
I bid thee well noble comrade, farewell
With a hope that the other home is swell
May be on someday we shall meet
In the new world that is calm and neat
Holding you tight I smooch your fur
Safe in my arms, you will gently purr.
[This poem is dedicated to my lost cat, named Pinky]
