Ascendance
The song is sung as before,
The words are sung anew.
It describes the passage of time once more,
And how the song grew.
Dual notes hit with harmony pure,
Yet as opposite as we shall ever know.
For a note is high as the sky azure,
And the other deep as the abyss below.
Slowly, simply, a throbbing beat,
Keeps time like a living heart.
The two noted it does greet,
Gently filling its part.
The abyssal note keeps the time,
Pulsing slowly down below.
Shaking the depths filled with slime,
Its power begins to grow.
The high note hears the beat,
But flittingly, it soars away.
For this note shall not repeat,
What it has to say.
High it flitters, in the sky so blue,
Caring not for the world below.
Its notes are ever new,
Complementing the slow tempo.
The throbbing beat subtly quickens,
Forcing the others along,
The harmony of the notes thickens,
As they continue with the song.
The deep note keeps on humming,
Keeping time with the pace of time,
Soon the high note is coming,
To maintain the musical line.
Its independence now forever gone,
To the pace that prevents its joy of the new,
Now the note sounds forlorn and wan,
As it is subject to the other two.
The low note, sensing the wrong,
Gladly lessens the pace,
The high note then resumes its song,
And joyfully returns to its place.
