Put On Your Thinking Cap Poems | Examples

Paying Taxes

For those who pay our taxes
We should be a little peeved
To discover how much larceny
Our leader has achieved.

Yes, his so-called 4-year “audit”
Kept the truth from its release,
In addition to the many palms
He surely had to grease.

Now The New York Times gained access.
It’s all there; no need for clues
And no one but those deluded
Would believe it’s just “fake news.”

To each voter undecided:
Please put on your thinking cap.
Can you vote for a cheater who also
Thinks each taxpayer’s merely a sap?

Premium Member Utter Balderdash

"That's utter balderdash," I loudly screamed
you can't catch a dragon with a mousetrap.
This operation proves you have no clue
we're in trouble; put on your thinking cap!

I'm sorry, but luck is not on our side
and we don't have the time for dissension.
Apples to apples we don't stand a chance
it's your life; you had best pay attention.

Jumpy, you're frightened of your own shadow
and before nightfall you'll be hearing things.
Setting traps is a total waste of time
it's a foolish plan, for dragons have wings.

You boggle my mind; I have to speak out
let’s let common sense affect the outcome.
Don't risk getting seen, until we spot it
and don’t attack it with pitchforks, that’s dumb.

We'll need to do everything in stealth mode
using a password other than guess who.
And by employing our wits, we’ll listen
for a kerplunk; dragons like water too.

And then we’ll fling out all our fishing nets
that we'll secretly prepare in advance.
And hope it gets hopelessly entangled
for I think drowning it is our best chance.

Fancy Dress

Fancy Dress

You could;

Come as an Indian Chief
Or perhaps a Downhill Skier?
Come as a Jewel Thief
Or a red nose Reindeer
Come as a Grizzly Bear
Or a puppet on a string
Trousers with a wide flair
Or just about anything
Why not a Preacher?
Or an Alien from space
An absent-minded teacher
Or clown with painted face
A character from history
Like Alexander the Great
Someone cloaked in mystery
A juggler from the fete

So, put on your thinking cap,
There’s lots that you could be.
What’s it going to be old chap?
Please not the same as me!

Dreaming

Dare to be different
Dare to confront your fears
Dare to think the box outside
Dare not to conform to the norm
Dare to put on your thinking cap
In the midst of thoughtless and thinking-less
People who will rather be religiously
Dogmatic to fables and hearsay
Dare to cross the ocean of limitation
Weaving webs of fallacies embedded in rote
Whose only aim is to reduce you to themselves

Dare to rise up
A giant you are within,stay dwarf don’t
Fan the embers of the flame of your
Imagination
Create nations with your notions
Unstoppable are they who dared to dream
In your dreams are endless realm of possibilities
Impossibilities and difficulties are for those
Who thinking is a labour too heavy to perform
Shake yourself from the shackles
There no chain strong enough to hold you
Because if you refuse to abide
Then you will abound in leaps and bound

I dare to dream differently
I dare to work differently
I dare to persevere differently
In my daring lies my success
In my daring lies my fulfilment
In my daring is my living
