One night each week, we courting couples meet
to share our poetry and chat a while.
This time we’ll all enjoy a special treat.
Romantic sonnets sure to make us smile
and swoon will be recited in grand style.
Though not part of the beatnik “misfit” crowd,
we’re nonconformists--in just one respect.
Our venue is a grassy field! We’re proud
to have this spot that many would reject,
this place where kindred spirits can connect.

The nonconformists decided to band.
And form a friendship club in a new land.
A new land could not be found anywhere.
Plus crazy disagreements were everywhere.
Intense yelling ensued and fighting broke out.
Nonconformity was rampant, and all about.
I did not think it would work a ringleader said.
For if anyone said green, I would have to say red.
A club was always a dumb idea, said another.
I can’t even get along with my own stupid brother.
I can’t believe I ever agreed, said a third.
Knowing I have to always have the last word.

~~The Non-Conformist~~
Does not run with the pack!
These are the ones who make history,
and have the art of laying track.
Mostly unpopular and heartily avoided,
They change the world without making
harsh noises.
They are magical people who suffer the
great gift of humility.
Totally unaware of their gift to humanity.
They simply relish being themselves.
Whilst arrogant teacups fight each othrr for first place on the shelf.
Life for nonconformists is one, endless romance with life's dance,
While other teacups gloat in sheer, boring
arrogance,
Slapping themselves on their thin meaningless, puny backs.
