Have you ever felt the time was now
To burn it all
To burn everything down

Can it suffice to say
So many ways that souls in flame
Are beautiful
Such argent tears pour forth from empty, blazing eyes
As we so desperately search to deny our own identity
Masks torn and tattered
Reveal these shattered fragments of a face still not my own
Another mask, another name, another frame of misperception
Finds direction yet unknown
And all I've ever felt was true
Now newly fades to dust before my eyes

Defined by what I see
How desperately this need for something else
Pervades the self
I've tried to see

How helplessly I've tried
    to be
