Did you hear?
Softly gently a breeze tiptoed past me, into the bushes and the trees,
Gently gliding around the leaves, playing with them turning and laughing at me, whipping
my hair and calming again,
How silly is the wind!! Graciously whispering that Fall is hear to tickle my ear.
To slip away as I walk down the path with the vines on the houses and yellow and white,
marigolds twirl to say hello,
The bluebirds chasing each other, the leaves chasing them,
The leaves chase everything the cat, the dog, the people passing by,
A squirrel in a whirl over a leaf riding the wind!
Carefully the wind has disappeared again, the green bushes and trees are waiting for a rush,
From their friend the wind,
So quietly still they stand,
My face is chilly, but not freezing,
My hands hoping to feel the breeze again,
Oh where is the wind? Oh where is my friend?
Around the corner, my hair flies away my skin gently pushed tighter it is my friend,
Whispering to me fall has begun. Oh what fun!!!
Oh this sweat upon my brow
Pours from this weather I must embrace
Thick moist air curls my hair and drips from my face
Oh the dog days of summer are here
Where my clothes are stuck and dirt does adhere
Bare foot running across the tar and concrete
Burning the soles of my feet
Breathless and hot not wanting to move
Waiting for a storm to pass over and this oppression to improve
My garden finds elation in this humidity
Making it leaves grow with great solidity
The kids run lemonade stand down the street
The elders stop to buy it and beat the heat
Tho theses days are short in caparison
To view ones perspiration is somewhat embarrassing
I am so thankful for my air-conditioning
I’m just complaining and petitioning
For a brake for this extreme heat
And I shall whistle along with my sweet treat
Oh this sweat upon my brow
Pours from this weather I must embrace
Thick moist air curls my hair and drips from my face
I guess I shall inhere to July and it’s slower pace
