The trolls were smug because the bug they caught was Cheeky.
King of the cockroaches, and exceedingly sneaky.
They trussed him up and had a celebration parade.
Marched him through Troll-ville and sold Lemonade.
Before they reached the end, a child let out a scream.
Cheeky’s chair was empty, a Parade-Meister’s worst dream!
Cheeky was missing, gone, kaput, and no one knew where that day
Except for four of us, as we had helped him sneak away.
All was well by morning as the town had caught Loopy, a lightening bug.
We did not help this one get away, as we knew he was quite the thug.

Sorrow is the spawn of rich, elected meisters;
the Arms Race, the silent wars, and particle colliders,
The climb of Sputnik, the fires, and the importance of Geneva,
but the radaranges and spy planes have given us amnesia.
The world has gone silent, despite being littered with radios,
the wordless conflict being observed from orbital telescopes.
The end of this rock is coming all too soon,
and the last tears to be shed will be shed from on the moon.
