THE LOVE SONG OF MAUD GONNE
Look to my eyes and know the truth
can't you see it's deep?
But all this love I have for you
it will have to keep.
I cannot say just why this is,
but this will have to do,
that I could never take you from
a world in need of you.
Keep writing such sweet words for me,
and know I love each one,
so that our love will always be,
when we are dead and gone.
I knight you, as if I were queen
in charge of destiny,
and hold it dear, the love you feel,
so keep on loving me.
You are the truth of every love,
emotion put in word,
and all the world will sing them out,
the sweetest ever heard..
But Willie, though I can marry never
I will love you forever.
