I suspect in my feckless youth my folks thought me rather slovenly,
Obnoxious, averse to work and associated with dubious company,
But Air Force sergeants dealt discipline with lingo at times unsweet,
Convincing me that life is easier if things are regular and complete!
They taught me to hang my clothes on hangers all facing the same way,
With buttons buttoned and shoes shined which I observe to this very day.
I prefer button-down collars; my pants must have a crease and pleat,
Because you see, I insist on things being regular and complete!
The Caddie DTS must be washed and waxed to a perfect sheen,
And when dining out, woe to the chef who screws up my cuisine!
My lawn must at all times be the best manicured on the street,
Because you see, I insist on things being regular and complete!
My barber must see that my eyebrows and hair are neatly trimmed.
The barkeep must serve my beer ice cold with all the suds skimmed.
I like folks who keep their word, show up on time and are discreet,
Because you see, I insist on things being regular and complete!
I detest cell phones and the 'magpies' who on them endlessly blather,
Especially when driving or dining; they work me into a seething lather!
I reckon some folks think me an old curmudgeon and rather off-beat,
But dad gum it, I insist on things being regular and complete!

She welcomes us into her husband's home,
Serves us with best dishes,
And refers to us as her beloved children
When daddy wants to get us new clothes,
He asks her to escort him to the great shopping center,
He says she makes better choices than our mother.
She takes us in,to sleep in her home
Whenever our father has gone on a journey,
And treats us just like one of our aunts.
When our father wants to make a decision,
He tells her the whole plan,
So that she can make the best decision.
Our sperm contributor compares her to our mummy
Saying she cooks more delicious food,
Than his wife's dirty and unsweet food.
When her children are sent home for school fees,
Daddy gives it to them, and they return to school.
While we stay at home, counting a week's stay.
He buys ice cream for her children,
And says they speak better English than us
And dance modernly unlike local us.
And when he wrote the will,
All daddy's property belonged to her.
The car, land ,cattle, business and children.
She wants us to love her like our own,
But to our faces, she's only a begging stranger-
Who wants to rob our mother of her family.
She wishes we could hug her with affection,
But our spirits are conservative,
Looking with disgust at her arrival.
She would like to have us for her children
But we belong to another woman.
She's only our father's wife!

They lie in wait, a lie of state
A statement therein lies
The journey long that bears the song
Aloft to culmination
The strike is swift, the rest, the lift
Arresting once safe passage
And so is made, this tempting trade
For food of thought is fleeting
She rests attesting to this moment
No siren song but lilting
And in an instant instantly
A melody is risen
The aire is born for life, forlorn
And carried on the current
Survive the journey for the learning
Live to see the morrow
And where these two should meet unsweet
A moment left to capture
For all must eat lest they succumb
Benumbed to rote or rapture
How disheartening and catastrophic a failure can be
seeing all falling apart before teary and frightful eyes
that shun all hope, it would be extremely hard
to rebuild what was lost to ashes, not having survived
brutal storms or any wind scattering them farther
and wider into a wilderness echoing with stark horror;
oh, hear the agony of a despairing heart that cries
seeking some consolation under the barest tree!
Never put dreams away, and wail your defeat;
lay them on golden wings and start their flight,
seek them whenever gloominess fills your darkest skies!
They will sparkle, they will turn into those lovely fireflies!
Enthusiasm can wane along with passion,
and if that happens what are your chances?
Love deeper, give more, and joy will be yours;
leave no unsweet kisses, no untrue smiles, no words unspoken!
Surrender only when certainty reflects reality,
and you can be sure that emotions wouldn't be contradictory!
Never put dreams away and think how foolish is to keep your belief;
the worst you can do is let them slip from your fingers,
here's another change: hold them tighter than jewels:
they will shine and give you the happiness you always dreamed of!
