Sitting in the “Peanut Gallery” in the centre of Doodyville
Clutching my Clarabell Clown Marionette , such a Thrill
No tangled strings, on my gift from Mom and Dad Vacing
Buffalo Bob says ”Please put on a show” my Heart Racing
Tight in his right hand my Clarabell holds; the “Talking Horn”
Clarabell”s form of speech : his seltzer bottle filled that Morn,
Hanging from his waist. My Clarabell, Sprayed Clarabell’s Face
I walk Clarabell back to the Gallery, Tears of joy upon my Face
When I got Home my teacher said Bring Clarabell to School
I put on a show, the teacher and the Children say “Harry, that was cool”
Walking through the rubble, I scoop ashes from my bedroom floor
I wonder : did his Horn go off ?, when the fire burst through the Door
My Clarabell saw nine sunsets, ten times Clarabell saw the early morning SUN
Do not shed any tears of Sorrow, Mom and Dad : Bought me another One

The child, now sleeping, loudly snores.
The nightlight shines there on the wall.
If you could peer under the door,
The sight awaiting would enthrall:
It seems the toys have come to life!

They are engaged in no mere game:
A toyland battle to the death!
The superheroes are to blame;
The men in green have few troops left;
Their losses heavy in the strife.

With Duplo blocks, they barricade,
Regroup their forces there behind.
They inventory their grenades,
Make mental notes of where they've mined,
Prepare to meet their tragic end.

Magneto rises from the floor,
Unleashes his attractive beam;
The troops let out a racous roar,
for they are plastic, it would seem,
thus to his will they do not bend.

A team dispatched to try and flank,
To scale the chair, come from the back.
But Hulk awaits them like a tank,
Behind a pillow, sneak attack.
The spear is blunted, further thinned.

The captain, knowing things are dire,
Determines he will save the men,
and laying bare some lamp cord wire,
he challenges Magneto then;
His sergeant understands and grins.

Magnetic forces back in play,
the soldier runs, flips the switches.
The predator becomes the prey;
Magneto, arcing current, twitches:
a turning point in this grim war.

The flash of light wakes up the child;
she bolts up, eyes now open wide.
The spell is broken; meek and mild,
the toys, inert, lay side by side.
Her head back down, again she snores.

So that's an ABABC DEDEC tail-rhyme, and kind of a fun one!

Premium Member Held in Place by a Haunted House

If you are in your seventies you might remember
the movie Babes in Toyland that came out one December
The movie stars were in an enchanted forest with diabolical trees
Tonight, on Halloween, I could not help but think of the likes of these

Because down the lane where the party was twirling by the hour
Was a haunted house that had come alive, and had a super power
With a witch-like nose, she had a snarl, a sniffle, a sneeze and a sneer
I am not so brave, so began to shiver and shake wanting not to be here

What is wrong? Queried the house in a persnickety, evil, mean way.
I could not stop my quivering feet, they decided to not stay.
But try as they might, they could not move, let alone run away.
The haunted house held us down firmly on that terrifying day.

Down Under

Kangaroos bounce lower
for tis the season
some roo laze on their backs
smoke electric cigarettes
Green moments
are discovered in Antarctica
Give your thanks America
give us your huddled elves
your heaving tinsel mountains
sprinkle all our glary nights
Wild-eyed are the rug-rats
they expect a baby-born
one bearing gifts from Toyland
alas alack the three wise guys
took a wrong left in the sand
and found themselves Outback
they waltz now around the billabongs
seeking the vapor trails of large marsupials
and they, the Aussie big boppers
the hoppers, are just chilling
unwilling to face more festive day's
nor shovel up or scoop
yet more reindeer poop
