If Tomorrow Is Truely News

I can’t do
Anything
without you
There’s nothing
I can do
without you

I know you think I’m me
But I’ve been pretending to be
Opened the door
Before I knew you were leaving
My first foster mother and adopted brother
It’s a world of harsh reality
Left it to my feet to discover
“Trust no one”
Especially if snakes don’t speak
“You don’t even utter”
No cold cuts, no bread, only peanut butter
Maybe a taste of honey on days we couldn’t play
Child hood was just not sunny
Hated church
The pastor and anything biblical that lurked
Hated photos
No cheese, no smile, not even a smirk
Held my pillow to my face and refused to breathe
At the time life could do nothing but hurt
Never fell in love
Not a passionate flirt
Family visits and various social workers
“Please I’m not going to hurt you”
Never mind the damage has been done
Never could revamp the fun
Grew grim, my soul got bleached in the sun
Nine years old and I just want to see mom
A friend , a single compassionate face
Bitterly my beloved tears taste
Not born of a supreme race
Days I’d go without toothpaste
The struggles I’ve over come
The scars you can’t see
The image you love
I can no longer be
I worthless, I get it
I’m poor and things are getting no better
But I haven’t misspelled a word in this letter
Worth nothing more than soiled rags
But I did it, I made it to 22
Without hustling, drugs, or getting tagged
My tears in your basket, that’s all I had
No property value
“smoke marijuana” get out of here
Cant let these detectives and there ideal logy foul you
She’s a pretty girl but I can’t give her the world
Maybe a cold drink and a romance that won’t sink
Hold on to that, I’d miss you if I blinked
I changed my life at twelve
Put yesterday on the shelf
And held on to myself
I have no identity
I’m made up of what I learned from others
No mother, no father
I shouldn’t have made it any further

I can’t do
Anything
without you
There’s nothing
I can do
without you

Tears Upon the Ground

It was when I caught you on a day,
When I know you didn’t want to be found.
You had seen the shock on my face,
When I noticed all those tears upon the ground.
Nobody could ever predict,
Another’s tolerance for pain.
One person’s world may be sunny,
When someone else’s world is full of rain.
There is no question your trying to fight it,
You’re showing all of your strength.
Did you know it’s not a sign of weakness?
To open up with someone you can talk with at length.
So don’t drown in those tears,
Go ahead and take my hand.
Really all you need sometimes,
Is the one in front of you who will stick to the end.

I can’t believe how many tears,
That have collected on the ground.
Looking at so many tears,
I figure I would have heard a sound.
No I never heard a whimper,
I never heard you cry.
It’s when I looked up at your face,
I had seen all that strength there in your eyes.

I know sometimes in this world,
It has a funny way to pat you on the back.
You try everything you can to do things right,
Yet you still feel like you are under attack.
It can be hard to keep the balance,
When pushed to such a fine line.
With so many questions you have left unanswered,
Praying you’re not left to hang out there for all of time.
The grind can be tough so take my hand,
So I can finally help you out.
I can still see that strength but you are weakening,
I know you’re full of courage, and that I would never doubt.
In life there are always points along the way,
When fear and pain will surprisingly come around.
I can stay with you for as long as you need,
We’ll gather up those tears upon the ground.

I can’t believe how many tears,
That have collected on the ground.
Looking at so many tears,
I figure I would have heard a sound.
No I never heard a whimper,
I never heard you cry.
It’s when I looked up at your face,
I had seen all that strength there in your eyes.

Circles In the Sky

yeah yeah so here I am at the voting booth
the voting booth
if we only had some tabloids I'd know what to do
one devoted to digging up the dirt, the perks, and the poop
on this gal and that guy with sincerity and truth
yeah yeah at the voting boooooooth
the voting booooooooth
because I'm freeeeee
the commies had one guy to vote for and
we got two and sometimes threeeee
and I don't know any of theeeese
Hmmm let's see
to whom shall I cast my vote
think any of these are full of good deeds
think any of them are
vote for me vote for me
I need this job so please please please
think any of them are blue collar
or are very poor with mouths to feed
or an American brother who knows what it is to be
in need
yeah
an American brother
that's what we need
somebody like us
somebody who sees
someone with integrity and heart
fears God and bleeds
know no no no
I don't know none of these
let's seeee
we got this thief or that thief
crawling out of the rats nest
hungry to go meet their new boss
big world lobbyists
yeah the real boss
big world lobbyists
green horn and don't you know
their gonna eat'chew alive
you better learn real fast
how to cheat and lie
and the only love I can see in DC is in
the vultures eyes
their hungry hugry eyes
and you know they don't kill
no no they don't kill
just patiently wait for you to die
circles in the sky
laughing so hard they cry
working man better stand up
working man better stand up
I think we need to police the greed
and string up the guilty
enough is enough
and we don't want you ruling over us
anymore know no no more
we need to police the greed
and string the guilty up
before they completely destroy us
I think we could all agree
that the problem is greed
yeah we need to police greed in
Washington DC
and string up the guilty
if we ever want to be free
again

Neighborhood Built True

What if we decided to name ourselves with a different word?
When we watched the nightly news, neighborhood is what we heard.
After all the way we’re headed I don’t know what else to do.
I know John has said it well for years and yes I wish it was true.

Imagine walking to the park and all saw you without reference
Think what it would mean if we no longer saw the difference
Rather all relished their humanity and acted with extended hand
We all joined together and made a kindness stand

Like an old time barn raising where all worked to raise it true.
Would it not be nice if that was how it was and what we tried to do?
If all the stones in our foundation aren’t set solid in the mortar
How long shall our structure stand, useful and in working order?

We focus on the middle class and ponder what to do
However until all sit at the table our structure is not true
We fail to see the problem when we apply a bailout patch
We pass laws against social illness disparity continues to hatch

Why don’t we learn from yesterday and build a bright tomorrow
Rather than continue to face the world with so many left in sorrow
America you had a founding purpose failed to ever anoint
All must be included or we Americans have missed the point

Imagine what the world would think if we let all share in the bounty
What if we did not abandon one even in our smallest county?
When all know they are included very few will break the rules
When will our civil servants ever recognize these clues?

Nations andNeighborhoods are like a building and need a solid foundation
If we do not work for that we shall have a shaky nation.
Remember you never stand so tall, as when you stoop to help another
Look around my friends and say to them, all of you are my brother

One family of humanity…the only race we need to see!!!

When Ur Days Won'T Smile

How does the world feel when we cry
How does the world feel when we die
I'm headed to a place as gentle as a slow melody
Where we can walk in peace without it being a felony
It's hard waking up to another day when nobody loves you
Even harder not to retaliate when somebody shoves you
Label me a trouble maker
But I remain the kindest heart-waker
So many attempt, but suicides no longer a question
In the climax of life, and loves not even a suggestion

Through this letter
I ask is there a place where life's a little better
Help us withstand the bad weather

Can you witness the struggle
to carry on when all tears form a puddle
And over time love ones huddle
There will never be peace
But I look forward to the deceased and all the stress we release.
See you in heaven if I make it
Given the chance I don't know if I'd take it
And if I gave it all up would anyone care
Put hands on me with feelings to share
Present situations make way for future vacations

In this letter
I'm asking is there a place where life's a little better
Put on armor and thick sweaters
Please help us withstand the bad weather

When I'm gone will the world miss me
Or pop champagne bottles and diss me
Either way leave a blister to kiss me
If I should head to church on Sunday
Pray for a better Monday
And when the day ends and the next doesn't begin
We'll know the world has spun it's last sin
Through my mind I picture happiness
but through my worst dreams
my nightmares are pleasant scenes

In this letter
I'm asking is there a place where life's a little better
Put on armor and thick sweaters
Please help us withstand the bad weather

Waiting For the Wind

Sitting in the morning just waking up on my side of the world today
I turn on the news see if anyone has anything good to say
Stock markets falling and another landslide while the politicians try to deny
Global warming and more killer storms and another thousand people die
and the advertiser says I’d be happy if I bought bigger car you know
I’ve got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.

Sometimes I think the world’s gone mad and I can’t stand to hear the pain
One place burning in holy fire and another in a deluge of rain
Sometimes I think that hatred and war is the only way we know how to be
And I want to sail away,..in a world made for you and me
Sometimes I wonder at the pace of it all, where’s everybody trying to go
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.

Why can’t we see the beauty of it all in the sun rising every day
Life holding on to the sides of mountains and the waters rushing into the bay
Why can’t we live as if nothing on earth mattered more that the love that we bring
I want to sail away,.. and become part of everything
Why can’t we care just a little bit more, maybe let a little kindness show
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.
I got my sails out...and I’m waiting for the winds to blow.

Just Some Dumb Lyric's I Wrote..

In a flowered room filled to the rim,she counts her blessings and then she goes to a place
where she won't have to hear the world's expectations.

If she knew, if she tried, they tell her she's a hopeless case; but she thinks the world's all a
lie and she won't believe it.

(CHORUS) : Can you teach her how to live can you try; or push her off the ledge and expect
her to fly.

No mother before her to teach her grace or show her how. No father to love and now she's
lost in the world and it's crowd.

Her child has become the center of her world but she doesn't know how he's to grow, as she
sits in a room alone away from a world so cold.

(CHORUS)

He grows up just like her, and he's all alone too, sometimes he starts to wonder how his
mom got through.

He sits alone in a flowered room where she used to pray, hoping he can make it through the
pain and gloom of another day.

(CHORUS): Can you teach him how to live, can you try; or push him off the ledge and expect
him to fly.

When the world comes into play each must play a role, when the curtains close the stage
don't forget the lost souls.

(CHORUS): Can you teach them how to live, can you try; or push them off the ledge and
expect them to fly....

Back

She's sitting beside the window
And watching the falling rain;
Days turn into weeks, life passes by,
And she is alone again.
Nobody remembers she's still alive,
But she is not even ten.

She's listening to all feeble voices within,
To misery and pain she will never give in.
In lonely tears she tries to forgive...
In years she'll have just one reason to live.
But she knows that's worth it...

The world is so cruel... No one knows she cries.
If somebody saw, they would never care why.
Her dreams and the world will be always apart.
And no one will put back the shards of her heart.

She's listening to all feeble voices within,
To misery and pain she will never give in.
In lonely tears she tries to forgive...
In years she'll have just one reason to live.
But she knows that's worth it...

She wakes up with fear to meet the new day,
She already knows it will bring just more pain.
But no one cares, no one understands -
She puts on the mask, trying hard to pretend.

I close my eyes and through years I see
That girl near the window is ten year old me.
She never lost hope and the wish to forgive,
And now she has that one reason to live.
And this reason is you.

I come to you in blindness
I swear it helps me see
As I step into the darkness
Of how things truly be.

Then I step into the lightness
Of where we can surely go
I think about the future
If we should make it so

Wistfully dreaming of this view
Knowing it is what we need to do
All, waking every morning sensing the relief
No longer living in a world filled with by all that grief

So when I think about my blindness
I do so with a smile
For I realize I’m far less blind than they
By a country mile

The world like a truck, awaits its filling load
So it may get to traveling down the dusty road
By lifting from the bottom we will soon discover
The truck is now loaded with all secure beneath its cover

So come to me in blindness
I swear it will help us see
And we’ll step out of the darkness
Into how things should truly be.

Not Quite Like You

It's a funny trick how the world works
People just screaming to be seen
But they're not quite like you
If you know what I mean

You are the best thing I'm dying to happen to me
You are everything I am
You're also what I wish I could be
But you don't see what I see

You look the mirror
You think you have problems
Seeing the worst never did anyone good
You're seeing a lie
Because I know just who you are
It's like you have the character of someone I wrote

I don't think you know
But let me heal your heart
I know just where
Just where
To start
You're just so good
I wish you could see it
Couldn't make up a better guy if I tried

You are the best thing I'm dying to happen to me
You are everything I am
You're also what I wish I could be
But you don't see what I see

What a crazy thing
A beautiful boy can't see that
He's incredible and he's everything to me
Puts himself down while everyone else struts around

It's a funny trick how the world works
People just screaming to be seen
But they're not quite like you
If you know what I mean

No, they're not quite like you
Not quite like you
If you know what I mean
