dog tired this day - march 29th, 2018
no matter this dawg gone pup
took numerous one after another cat nap
his utterly fatigued
body electric still ragged
as if he went without sleep for a lifetime,
ensnared within a time warp,
espied that aggravating "aw SNAP"

My friend has gone shopping for chicken stock.
I miss her so much.
The drapes are drawn
I have to see, cannot be closed in
I miss my outer side so much.
Outside, last winter’s trees are clutching a few leaves,
I miss their bare bodies so very much,
I miss the broth of green, its absolute greenness,
where did that color go?
The turtles of May are here early,
I have missed their wet-eyed sleepiness,
missed them, for they arrived early.
The unexpected earliness of most happenings
is so easy to miss.
The May blossoms arrived in secret,
were daubed quickly by wood elves,
soon they will run out of pink and white paint.
My friend will come back with the chicken stock
and a Saran wrapped pre-prepared roaster.
I miss thanking and dispatching a live chicken,
miss the plucking and the slimy fingered
dressing of the plump bird,
the cleaning and chopping, the spatchcock
the mise en place of coq au vin
miss the taste of past meals.
Today I will cook some missing ingredients.
Dandruff clouds on the rim of my spectacles,
I miss the clarity,
miss the glossy curls of middle-aged poetry.
It’s almost unbearable to have missing teeth;
the stars have full gleaming sets
they are surrounded by mouths
everything is in order,
everything is hungry and surrounded by mouths
the perfection is unbearable.
I miss the farm-wise cat,
the sheepish dog and his waggish ways,
the strange speech of men looking for women.
the mélange and medley of fat times.
Nobody settles for consommé anymore.
I will miss cracking chicken bones today
scraping out their boiled gelatinous marrow,
miss the suety brewing of bouillon,
the simmering potage.
My friend rushes back from the shops
just so she will not miss seeing me.
If I am left alone too long I tend to make lists,
get too empty
and disappear for a while.
On Nacpan Beach my dreams take flight
No past to haunt and no wrongs to right
Turquoise waves hum songs of endless peace
My soul drifts and all memories cease
While on holiday the skies are wide
Worries fade with the changing tide
Grains of cream-colored sand under salty air
Accommodate each blissful step without a care
Endless rows of coconut trees oversee granularity
The scent of the ocean brings unburdened clarity
As the sun dips low a variety of colors ignite
Over a golden canvas of tranquil delight
Lazily napping on a hammock between palm trees
Sleepiness whisks me away under the whispering breeze
I filled a small trench that yielded fresh water.
Built as a serpentine and with a sharp corner.
A small waterfall sang a melodious sound,
A lulled sleepiness induced when it hit the ground.
On each side of the rill, fair, watery plants grew,
A great choice of Algae. Ferns, a lobelia blue.
Fitful arrowheads and water lilies adorn.
Cardinals and others begin their flight in the morn.
Already prepared was a slightly large pond,
Well covered with cement mixed with soil beyond,
I planted some hyacinths and water lilies.
Soon, dragonflies waltz around like sillies.
My final job was planting a dwarf willow.
Don't be surprised, robins made it their pillow.
So Dog Gone Tired Today...
May 20th, 2021
Like a fly without his/her buzz
even popping a guarana (caffeine) does
not shake the feeling
like brain covered with fuzz
no matter how hard I try eyelids claps
shut nor how many hours of sleep elapse
offers nary reprieve folds
welded tightly shut
feel like they weigh
much as a ton mud covered flaps,
thus thought to summon
meager energy reserves perhaps
generating poetic lines
interrupted by taking constant naps
but no matter eyelids
weigh heavy as a ton steel traps
narcolepsy not ruled out since
tired body struggles as if gasping for air,
yet such fatigued state uncommon for me,
though bothersome to grin and bear
this bout of sleepiness, where this
white knight chess sleeps
trouble free aye declare
quality deep rapid eye
movement marked noticed
since medication taken
to treat debilitating anxiety e'er
concomitant panic attacks, where psyche
got rent asunder send
ding this atheist to hell
episodes pained me
forked flaming tongues flare
ling, immobilizing, paralyzing
and stinging entire body,
hence methinks primary cerebral gear
and cog glommed
like a drain clogged with hair
nonetheless, no alarmist worry,
nor "worst case scenarios" betray
my ordinarily mellow emotional state,
thus any task I must delay
thoughts unstoppably captivated
by snoozing upon
a bed of freshly mown hay,
and then hours later
diminishing fatigue in catchy rye
ming verse aye re: lay
relishing being awake,
the mine true valued self I kin portray
best to surrender whereby
unfettered invisible manacle doth yoke
mine body electric unresponsive, yet woke
to myriad stuff dreams get made
ashen faced flesh impossible mission
to energize (think cattle prod) futile stoke,
thus methinks eternal sleep only option,
whereby yours truly only request do not provoke
nor poke
the bear, but only I make exception for
Little Red Riding Hood,
cuz she ranks as innocent young female folk.
Sun slowly dipping in an autumn sky;
the wind's blowing and the pine boughs tossing.
From their warm, peaceful beds the meek and shy,
walk down to the river; and the crossing.
To the fields above, and forage a meal;
prance in the meadows; eyes and ears alert
Hear Blue Jay's calling an alarm with zeal.
Twilight now as fast waters in concert.
Squirrels and chipmunks have gone to their beds.
Barn Owls soaring upon whispering wings.
Night animals stir, sleepiness now shed.
Walk in the water, hear the crickets sing.
Return from the fields to sleep for the day
Now at dawn they cross in the crispy haze.

As the web of sleepiness leaves me now.
Remembers the time. And alone.
As days go by and the seasons change I can only dream.
I should have stayed asleep, I'm not alone there.
Heart of mine which pumps my loneliness. Stop.
Vague thoughts and hopes crushed every time.
And the truck shakes my house as it goes by.
You should have taken the best of me.
That seed of mine, with cold lies dormant.
It's comfortable waiting for warmth.
And my dreams wait too.
Tears provide but the thirst won't give up.
We started alone and we die alone.
I loved you and your calm.
It helped with the end.
been waiting for this day
i feel like singing
the sun and the birds have beaten me to it
bells of blessings are ringing
though i am off to a slow start, in an hour i'll be alright
this moment i have long been waiting for, and now it is time to take flight
i kiss your cool, moist morning breath lips
you wake up with a style smile
your upbeat greet has my sleepiness beat and i am now ready to drive each mile
i can see the excitement in your eyes more clearly
mine has been more obvious since day one
as high as i am uplifted you can color my anticipation with a yellow crayon
even though some things may be all out of the lines we jump back, exhale and recollect ourselves
then we take a moment to redirect our thoughts, take hands and thank God for the generous blessing of our wealth
when it's time to go then it's time to go
with our eagerness the miles seem like just a stones throw
after checking to see if we have everything and are on the ball
we then dash away dash away and all
