A Tangled Web of Lies

O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!
Can't help but to recall this famous quote from Sir Walter Scott...
When one reads the latest revelations on the financial scandal that is 1MDB...
Touted as a sovereign fund to help the economy of the Malaysian Nation...
What has been revealed so far is a tangled web of deception for the nation...

O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!
At the onset of of the saga of 1MDB, it was a sovereign fund entity....
It sourced for billions and billions in cash money for seed capital initially....
Taking out monstrous loans using guarantees from the government...
No red flags were raised, despite reservations from the management...
When the numero uno signatory is the Finance Minister himself...
And it being so he is also the Prime Minister, who is to question...

O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!
The wheels of international justice are turning, investigations are revealing..
Convoluted money trails of obscenely huge amounts to the tune of billions..
From Singapore to Switzerland to Luxemburg to Australia to the United States..
And a couple of other countries with highly principled banking standards...
Are seeking to unravel the this global money scandal with the highest stakes..
Wall Street Journal expose is churning out scandalous information of the investigations..
While in the home country of Malaysia, political warlords brush off all revelations..

O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!
A single plea of innocence was well propped up with tales of donation...
As gifted from individual or individuals, ultimately from a dead Arabian King..
Stalwart political warlords were nevertheless resolute in defending...
As a much tainted political leader wisely maintains a eloquent silence...
Even as political foes and the knowing public cry out their frustrations...
Horrified and anxious over the repercussions from this 1MDB financial cancer..

O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!

Wake! and see the extent to which you’re still enslaved
        enslaved by your own kind who hanker after conditioning platitudes
        the clubby comfort of secretly oath-taking power cliques
                                              Wake! O! Asia! Wake!

Remember! Remember Haidar Ali his son Tipu and Akbar
         remember Sivaji and Chandra Bose and Kattapomman and Asoka
         remember O! remember the one and only Mahatma
                                               Wake India! O! Wake!

Wake! India! Wake! and see how your destitute generations are shunned aside
         in infested villages sans drains sans potable water sans hope
         see how they’re bound in mantric incantating castiron caste strictures
                                                Wake! O! India! Wake!

No where else in the world are humans so in-humane-ly stratified
          what proof have the Brahmins to issue forth from Brahma’s head
          who proclaimed them the chosen elite on top of the Indian pile of castes
                                                 Wake! O! India! Wake!

Wake! and see how your northern brethren have cast off their spiritual shackles
           even if they had abjured the path of the just to yoke their bodies
           yet for each child a vaccine a soja-filled stomach to keep slavers away
                                                   Wake! O! India! Wake!

Wake! O! India! Wake before it’s too late!
            for your own kind are about to enslave you once all over again
            and the old master needs hardly despatch troops to proclaim his divine law
                                                    Wake! India! Wake!

Wake and watch how your elite ape and espouse the ways of the old master
            how for an air-ticket a stipend per diem they would do you in without compunction
            how for some lions memberships in select clubs they’d betray your own true kind
                                                     Wake! O! Asia! Wake!

Wake! O! Indonesia! Wake and see how the G.N.P. in Singapore
            far outweighs that of the former papal Portugal now
            how the four fiery Eastern Dragons no more parade in papier maché garb
                                                      Wake! Indonesia! Wake!

ON A BAD DAY
By Leon Enriquez

To know the way
True purpose seek
As truth now plays
When vision peaks

Pique your own think
In fruitage ripe
The right verge brink
Hides in sad gripe

~~~~~~~~~
When people see you
In a bad light
Unleash and do
What creates right
In tint and hue
Your true colours
Paint and mint cues
In pure flavours
~~~~~~~~~

Your hue and cry
Creates new sights
For as you try
You find the light

When abuse surge
Upon your way
Glimpse your fond urge
Within fair play

~~~~~~~~~
Your wounds you hide
As you bear hate
Bury vain pride
Dare live your fate
They now conspire
To bring you down
To curb your fire
To cluster frowns
~~~~~~~~~

They say bad things
And point fingers
With words stifling
In harsh plunder

They smear your name
With plain malice
Put you to blame
In vile short list

~~~~~~~~~
They take you out
As vain pride cuts
With petty shouts
In messy rut
Here and there feel
Your fear ooze tears
To crush goodwill
As gall draws near
~~~~~~~~~

Here lies odd fate
As people hurt
Your placid state
With heaps of dirt

In caustic haste
They sculpt in blood
To render waste
As anguish floods

~~~~~~~~~
Look deep within
To your soul stage
To see unseen
Divine image
As you create
Your inner life
Sculpt your own fate
Beyond mad strife
~~~~~~~~~

Know then your peace
Lies in purpose
As poise knows lease
That you immerse

In the lost age
Fun-mirrors trace
Loss and vain rage
In time and space

~~~~~~~~~
Carry your heart
With faith and hope
For end and start
Live vibrant scope
Go deep within
To your soul core
To touch unseen
For love and more
~~~~~~~~~

Be at peace now
For faith knows hope
True love endows
To help you cope

The middle way
Offers pure choice
To live your stay
With vibrant voice

~~~~~~~~~
So style worthwhile
You focus here
Now frame fond smiles
As joy keeps cheer
The pain you feel
Tells of your fate
Put on goodwill
For love’s not late
~~~~~~~~~

On a bad day
Look deeper still
For dark times play
As light moves will

Do live your best
When times feel hard
Anchor your quest
Word verse dear bard

Premium Member Your Heart Knows

(Dedication: For Ann, who knows.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Follow your heart and listen well:
Do what you love and let it show;
All good things start when urge in-dwells;
Your musing dove inspires warm glow.
Go with the flow with inner voice;
Dare to dream big as wonder flames;
Discern and know your steadfast choice;
Sweet as a fig your primal game.
Your sure heart knows just what brings joy;
Love with passion as purpose drives;
Ask that you know your steady ploy;
Live bold action as your heart strives.
Dare to be bold with courage fond:
Look within you for inspired cues;
Let thought unfold in your own pond;
It's up to you to create you!
Live your best form each brand new day;
Focus and see a world of change;
Love is the norm that brings grand play;
Truth and beauty connects your range.
When things look bad as failure flings,
See through the dark that engulfs pain;
Cheer hides in sad: watch good times swing;
You heart will spark success again.
Learn to discern your time and space;
Be unafraid as failure comes;
Stare at concerns to yield your place;
Fear is a dread that zero sums.
Live with fond joy and dare to play;
Life is a game that you can win;
Defeat the ploy that fear portrays;
Wear well your name with faith within.
On earthly spheres right now and here,
Each man is born to a set tune;
Success is near beyond all fear;
Let work adorn what pulse attunes.
Know who you are as heart knows mind;
Walk your path well and do have fun;
Cause is a star that seeks and finds;
Result now dwells within life's pun.
Rhymes and reason follow the sun;
Do what you do with end in mind;
Sync with season and prime your run;
It's up to you to seek and find.
Keep mindset clear when things turn bad;
Love will know grace that governs each;
Keep heart sincere when sad turns mad;
Love firms your face to glimpse fond reach.
Here by your side, pure passion springs:
Here as you think a thousand deals;
Here for the ride, sure purpose brings:
Here as you link a hearty feel.
Keep doing now what your heart knows;
Keep faith and hope that lives love here;
Keep love's endow in sacred flow;
Keep poise and scope and work with cheer.
Remember well the words you say:
Encrypt your voice with pleasant poise;
Describe and dwell from play to play;
Live well your choice and thus rejoice.
Premium Member Remembering You
(Dedication: For the school children, teachers,
adventure guide and tourists who lost their lives
while trekking on Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, East
Malaysia during the earthquake, on Friday,
5th June 2015. RIP.  And for those missing.
For their loved ones who mourn their passing.
May you find peace in their memory. For the
survivors, may you find peace in the days ahead.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sad news this sad day: tragic young lives lost;
Yet courage did stay to fight a brave cause.

On June fifth, Friday: sudden tremor swept;
Sabah Mount then swayed with casualties snapped.

A simple school trip: to scale a calm peak;
To gain a good grip, now mortal wounds speak.

Kinabalu trek: where odd earthquake struck;
Brought pain in the wreck, young lives gone abrupt.

We feel humbled here: glimpse heroic acts there;
Teachers who braved fear to cushion harsh fare.

Hear of three trek guides: who focused their best;
Braved tragic landslide to rescue their guests.

Child survivor tells: of human spirit;
Brave acts that compelled when tragic force hit.

We mourn this sad loss: come to terms with pain,
Glimpse uncertain pause, grieve at death's domain.

Sadness moves our spheres: fondly remember;
Flags flown half mast here, watch loss engender.

Sadness marks Games' wit: How fragile life is?
A silent minute to honour lost lease.

Forlorn this feeling: no goodbyes or hugs;
Our children leaving, our broken hearts struck.

Others lost as well: cold mountain terrain;
Twenty voices quelled, sad day flings sad pains.

Tears on sad faces: pain and bitter grief;
Hearts with blown spaces, please let hurts be brief.

Yet life must go on: to live bold and strong;
Pray for those beyond where pain cannot throng.

Sad and grim this day: memories now taunt;
Guilt and regret stray, watch happy days haunt.

Pain and grief will end: to forge happy ploys;
Life sets journey trends, love ushers new joys.

May our tears and pain touch your souls this day;
May we meet again somewhere on life's way.

May our sorrows heal: with the distant tides;
May we live goodwill that stays by our side.

In our hearts we know: beyond sure reason,
Love that ever flows for all life's seasons.

Journey starts
Kunming portraits;
Highway song

Here old and new
Merge yet apart;
Vignettes juxtapose

China welcomes
Both ancient and modern;
Sign of the times

Tour group confronts
Unfamiliar grounds;
Rough edges grind

Quaint ways of old
Ancient tales displaced;
Modern day norms intervene

Spectacular vistas
Natural wonders;
Man seems insignificant

Flood tide drowns
Flushing away;
False assumptions destroyed

Gust of wind
Reveals new passages;
Knowing does not know

Mountain peaks
Valleys well-clustered;
Fertile grounds well-used

Everywhere we go
People of all tribes;
A Chinese pageant

Human nature speaks
Polite tones sway;
Touch of humble quiet

These Chinese people:
Kind, warm, hospitable --
A touch of home

Himalayan backdrop
Mountains for company;
Melodrama purged

Methinks that I
Could hideaway here;
Unknown, undisturbed

One sure currency:
The Chinese language;
Pervasive, ubiquitous

Vast is the land
Far as our eye span;
Beyond imagery

Trades of all sorts
Risk is a sure thing;
Living is risky business

Ancient towns
Showpieces that speak;
In steady silence

Rivers and streams
Winding into quaint towns;
Ancient as old time

Pulse of the moment
Camera shutter snapshots;
Still life captured

Picture posture
By this arched bridge;
Keepsake souvenir

Sensory pursuits
Old Town bazaars;
Hasty trinkets acquired

Silver artisans
Hammer away;
Creations of white metal

Bric-bracs scattered
Awaiting curious eyes;
That impulse buy in tow

Round this village
Tourist show piece;
Modern commerce prevails

Bargains await
Hungry customers;
Weathered Oriental wares

In this roundabout square
Locals and tourists stride;
Seek new-found distractions

Spring time weather
Hot and dry and windy;
Like home without humidity

Our tour guide --
Cautions that silver jewellery
Best bought from reputable shops

Cheap price often
Compromises quality;
Authentic stuff cost much more

Lessons unlearnt
On-the-road trade routes;
Return odd regrets

A silver bangle
Heavy with 99 percent;
Quality speaks tons

Scattered eateries
Street vendors offer;
Glimpses that never die

So much to see,
Words fail description;
Feelings explore facts

Only ten days here
We see yet do not see;
Only vague interpretations

All too soon
Sojourn over;
Yunnan in mind mists

Premium Member Troy

(Dedication: For Michael Zachary, my son)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sense this knowing: can the blind see?
Homer still sings fond tragedy.
Troy was a thought where siege was laid,
A war well fought as heroes paid.
Love and hate doomed to mortal rage,
Ten years once groomed that fatal stage.
Such fine faces like Archilles,
Hector traces with Odysseus.
Proud Agamemnon did hoard the sands,
Trojans beyond the high walls grand.
King Priam spied Greeks' battle scream,
Aegean waves plied the battle scene.
The rise and fall of heroes there,
The bitter gall of curse and swear.
Both sides pitted to furious fights,
Even witted, no end in sight.
Clever tactics at Troy did sway,
Loss most drastic for each did stay.
So many years the battle raged,
Proud lives and tears on either page.
Weary battles and bloody mess,
Souls now brittle with sure duress.
So many dead in bloodied sand,
The feud most great in defiant stand.
Now crafty thought brought idea grand,
Odysseus's plot to win war's end.
A hollow horse as token gift,
A rousing toss for Troy's uplift.
Greek ships slipped round to hide away,
Vanished fleet found with deceit's play.
This cunning ruse worked with sure craft,
Troy seemed amused with hoarding draft.
Dragged the wood crypt within the walls,
Stupor and script tell of Troy's fall.
In dead of night when sleep wrought themes,
Greeks murdered fight in Trojan dreams.
Homer the blind brought us grand sights,
For here we find our saving light.
Now we can see the fight go on,
Harsh as can be here and beyond.
Wars and battles reveal who's slain,
Man's not gentle who lives harsh gain.
We think and speak to weave fashion,
Give in to streaks of ambition.
The hunter hunts the chase until,
The victim grunts to turn and kill.
Troy and her days remind us still,
Live truce that pays in wise goodwill.
What of Helen who is part myth?
Fond beauty turns a timely drift.
A lovely tale of human gore,
To now assail that love lives more.
Thus all the world remembers well:
Dear heroes swirl just where we dwell!
Premium Member Geisha Portrait
Mysterious pulse of old Japan:
Oriental strides of nurtured grace;
Cultured impulse in mindful trend.
Painted faces with measured trace:
Years of training now fruit fine skills;
Motif graces that gently pace.
Merge with duty in kind goodwill:
Delicate moves put men at ease;
Fine robes silky as softness fills.
Walk on still air with radiant peace:
Sweet music floats in song and dance;
A touch most fair as charm funds ease.
Sweet scents abide in steady stance:
Fragrant cherry blossoms delight;
Hostess makes strides to flavour dance.
There is a heart that sees things light:
Whispers most sweet warm murmurs here;
Choice sparks fond art in precious sights.
Listen, art weaves sensuous cheer:
Know sure finesse in cultured ways;
Petals and leaves, poignant grace steers.
Geisha maiden livens sure sway:
Gentle yet firm with sacred code;
Courteous haven that honours play.
Evening comes by nature's mode:
To waltz the guests with tender poise;
Explore and sum the festive lode.
Feed special treat for merry choice:
Discipline tells in cultured plot;
Look to chimed feats with measured voice.
Geisha knows how to prime each lot:
Pulse of movement that entertains;
Swaying flows now with subtle thought.
Years of passion as purpose trains:
Looking to sculpt a way of life;
See pure action where intent gains.
Glimpse the lure of cultured strife:
Here by the gate on Eastern shores;
Costume feels sure a beauty's life.
Mind and heart sign in craft and more:
Body allure that tells a tale;
Zen-like fine art to unleash core.
Delicate moves in rice brewed ale:
Joy serenades the party mood;
Crisp movement grooves as freshness sails.
Bright moonlight streams a dazzling good:
Lovely looks flood the surge of play;
Dream follows theme in wine and food.
Strains of music dwell with verse say:
Song and haiku to paint a glimpse;
Rhymes string magic as movement strays.
Geisha my dear watch wordplay scheme:
Look to beauty that hides within;
Notice lines steer the path I dream.
Geisha maiden from times unseen:
Fine tapestry from ancient times;
Sculpted haven from ageless scenes.
Geisha looks quaint in modern chimes:
Face laced in paint as silk robes time.
Premium Member Good Friday
In the garden, The Christ did pray
For strength ardent to bear pain's stay.
Gethsemane, the Master kneels
To ask to be with fond appeal.
His close aides lie in heavy sleep;
The Christ now cries in pain so deep.
The soldiers come to seize the king;
Judas now sums betrayal fling.
A kiss laid sound to tell on him;
Jesus is bound with scornful whim.
Then off they go to a mock trial;
Conspire to show with sure denial.
From high priest to Pontius Pilate;
An impromptu in vile charade.
Death sentence flawed in power play
As Roman law primes unjust stay.
Scourged to appease the crowd's frenzy;
The Christ was seized with mad cruelty.
Thirty lashes upon the flesh;
A mocking clash of bloodied mesh.
Crowned with thorns plucked from marine haunts;
Pierced mortal tucked with painful taunts.
Then the mocked king is forced to walk;
Heavy cross stings the burdened stalk.
The route is long with steps uphill;
The Christ bears strong with humble will.
Three times He falls, and feels the whip;
Cruel soldiers all who torments heap.
On and on He bears the wood cross
To death's alley, to sure recourse.
Along the way, The Christ meets those
Who did display the pains and ghost.
Golgotha's space, nails are driven,
The cross is raised in cruel action.
The Son of Man prays for mankind,
To save the damned that evil signs.
Two thousand years have come and gone;
The Christ did peer to times forgone.
Good Friday psalm to each and all,
We must not harm but heed love's call.
Love frames a law: "Who harms, must heal." --
Law without flaw, it's heaven's will.
The way ahead is beyond hate;
Let love break bread as grace now plates.
The Living Christ offers to each
Love's fine reprise: Love each to each.
The message comes to one and all;
Love is the sum of love that calls.
Go deeper still to know and see:
The Christ that wills love and beauty.
Grace sets you free to know your place,
To simply be love's happy face.
Heed this story just to be clear;
Join the lovely way to love's cheer.
Follow your heart and it will show
The steady art that true love knows!
Let love bring light to live and learn;
Let peace bring sight for grace soothes yearn.
CHRISTMAS ALLELUIA
By Leon Enriquez
Hope blooms good living
This is the season
Love is our reason
For peace and goodwill
Share the love we feel
Joy in our giving
So right Here and Now
True peace on earth grounds
Where the lost is found
As faith and hope bloom
When our hearts make room
For love to endow
~~~~~~~~~

God blesses our sight
In our space and time
Hear the happy chimes
The wise men of old
The Christ child foretold
The way, truth and light

In our brief life lease
Draw near and see proof
Mystery in truth
Emmanuel right here
Our cause for good cheer
May The Christ bring peace

~~~~~~~~~
Christ’s sojourn on earth
As stars shine most bright
On this holy night
The Word comes to call
Humbly to us all
With tidings of mirth
Christ the Son of Man
What a lovely gift
As grace and light lift
Our dreary days here
To absolve all fear
Make souls understand
~~~~~~~~~

Mystic light we seek
So we look to grace
To help us to trace
To mend broken hearts
To dare to thus start
Our quest for love’s peak

Feel the jolly mood
Glad tidings to all
As Christmas light calls
With message most kind
Peace to all mankind
Each soul can live good

~~~~~~~~~
Christ brings healing touch
Gather with good cheer
With a heart sincere
True love funds your quest
Live the Christmas fest
Spread love more as such
Our fond hearts sing psalms
Once again we hear
Tidings of good cheer
Jingle bells ringing
Sweet Carols singing
Jesus Christ is come
~~~~~~~~~

Love the Lord God then
With all your heart, soul
Body-mind one whole
Then love other men
As you love God, friend
To show you understand

Live fond peace of mind
In your Christmas cheer
Compassion holds dear
Do unto others
Love one another
Be mindful and kind

~~~~~~~~~
Blessings to all men
Glory be to God
Father-Mother Lord
Source of mystery
Who calls us to be
Listen as we can
May light show the way
May peace bring us hope
Love and grace now scope
May faith and truth show
Joy we come to know
To live well each day
~~~~~~~~~
