Temerity

Temerity has become the greed-follicles that puncture peacefulness in human life.
Extruding tangled spires across the earthen lands like trees ready to fall and crush.
Power seekers boldly trample upon the complacent, seldom knowing meekness.
Tromping over the forgiving folks like a huge social machine rousting in life’s brush.

Uninvolved masses passively watch it all on the news through biased reviews.
Frantic citizens of the world live in economic quandary…seemingly helpless.
Leaders frame in their wealth maneuvering their way through the very laws they created.
Self-service at the expense of taxpayer’s, trust lost to dishonesty while honors regress.

Intentions once professed become lost inklings of wholesome promises forgotten.
They walk upon the souls of those they were chosen to lead abandoning emotions.
Tears fall, but they are not their own. Not now.
When, then can the righteous man find solace and escape from life’s commotions?

Is it only death that brings a tortured man to peace as he stands before his creator?
As long as there is hope that good will overcome evil, man can survive the dread.
Hope lives as mortals pray that greed be set aside and understanding lead to peace.
Meanwhile, altruistic hearts work to promote better living as millions are fed.

Where is the reckoning that surely must bring a just end to temerity?
Can self-control contain the angry masses when indifferences prevail?
No relief is found except what comes on that final day…the last judgment.
Forgiveness frees; God is love; sing we then, “All Hail Let Peace Prevail.”

Reflected Memories

Reflected memories

Blast the words of conceptions past
      Lost to time and place,
Blast the thoughts when memories fade
      Into our sadder days,
For came a horse, its saddle turned
Carrying a fragment of our dreams,
And softly blows a bugles call
      Then slowly slips away

Blast the silence, no voices call
In the sounds that we conceive,
And blast the hope as visions die
      When we consider images perceived;
But slowly rolls this wheeled cart
      Past one child’s lost salute,
While listen I the mournful cry
      That slowly slips away

Blast the mystery to question why
      Our memories fade with time,
Blast the sound of a bugles call
      On that warm November day,
Yet now is held the twilights light,
      Over flames that never die,
And quiet sound the winds of fait
      That slowly slips away

It's Time!

Rebel! My children, rebel! For the light
Of day scours for a system not built,
But saved from the souls of politicians
Who are lost and will never seem to find
A means to a decision, instead delay
The growth of a nation desperate for change!

Rebel! My children, rebel! Against the
Same, sorry scene captured on TV!
Pundits protesting every agenda
From the Left and the Right, what’s the purpose?
To show me they can battle politics!
Battle this! My mom just lost her house!

Rebel! My children, rebel! How hard is
It to cross a line? Or aisle? What if
On the other side was your love in need?
Put your pride away, just for awhile,
Just to see the difference that could form.
If not for me, do it for my children’s fate.

Rebel! My children, rebel! America
Is just not a name, but a foundation
Made by the people and for the people!
And we deserve so much more than a
Filibuster to take our nation’s name.
Let the light see the dawn of a new day!

I Spoke Up

I spoke up and a lost an eye. Is that the cost of an eye?

I spoke up and lost my leg. Is justice worth a person's leg?

I spoke up and I lost an arm. But arms are taken every day so I do not mind.

I spoke up and they took my mouth. I'll write a letter to another country so they will speak for me.

Till so many body parts litter the street that tourists will have no choice but to speak.

Will they take their limbs as well?

How much Justice can three tons of limbs buy?

- I wrote this in honor of Emily Henochowicz.
The girl who lost her left eye for standing up to Israel.
