Rise

Routine initial dinner imparts his heart on sleeve
Fourth date offer to move in, with her child
Mirror shows soft character she strives to believe
Demure manner somehow has him beguiled

Willing skip bin scour assists panicked neighbour
His outlook stoic upbeat, maintained modest
Jarvis valued asset, bovine humane kill innovator
Bali trip invitation, having kissed her not yet

Gilded page fable hero, finally sigh spontaneous
Erased past innocent repels inquiry intuitive
Revealing her dabbling would be dire dangerous
Vague oil picture layers bright lies lucrative

August move in floor thirty in tower beside marina
Vista thirty miles of hills, boat smooth ocean
Fairytale ticket to board, beau's open demeanour
Marks their story heavy navy ribbon devotion

Visible Continually

 Many crossroads have I
forged these last eight years,
As several closures and new
beginnings are no longer fears.

But my
raw reality
Almost
instantaneously

Is present then departs
my place of the mundane
Floating in and out of
my paradigm to arrange

An awakening at a profoundly
deep level of consciousness
A reversed vertigo ascending
with sincerity and finesse.

I sing,
I laugh,
I bring,
Crying at …

All the love and despair that has entered
and left just as quickly from my universe
As if a golden moment was all I was allowed
to glimpse before coming around to first.

Places in time and space
have changed dramatically
As my world moves on
without me systematically.

There seems to be a
vortex of a void too deep
Where once was
glorious, sweet, calm sleep.

Uneasy with vibrations
while assuming sentry
To my own survival
without portals for entry,

Into the corridor that
moves me through
The intense emotion
and thoughts of due.

The laws of
abundance continue
To be aligned
correctly and true.

The balance of honor
is maintained
By the integrity and
still remains

The values that
defend the weak
The strength that
undoes the link

Of the wicked and
cold, still darkness
Created by the ‘once
born’ in the starkest

Of bright lights that
do not ever allow
The shadows to dim
what is here and now.

Mine own eyes do not
lie or deceive me
Nor do mine own ears
not listen to see

That the voice of the
forked tongue gets twisted
Around itself and
cannot conclude in misted

Air without the train of
thought becoming derailed
From it’s unstable tracks
and frequently failed

To convince my naïve
soul that all is right.
I tend to get defensive
and confront with might

What you and I know
innately from birth
No matter what we
learn at hearth.

Now another crossroads
is approaching
As I journey so very close
to my destiny

Which has been
pre-ordained by my fate
The choices I’ve
made, in love and in hate.

Coming is sorrow, conflict,
and detachment;
But also joy, friendship, and
warm enchantment.

The Spinner of Plates

You've seen me at the circus
In front of adoring fans
With plates on top of pointy sticks
I spin them with my hands.

I have a whole row of them
Up to sixteen at a time
I even wear a blindfold
You've seen nothing of the kind.

I'm not really a performer
In the circus or the stage
But I perform at your local court house
Where my kid's future is being played.

We all have our parts to play
In this strange game of charades
But fathers have to work twice as hard
For their image to be maintained.

"Children need their mothers
She knows what's best", they say
But fathers have to prove their worth
Every step of the way.

Sometimes there is justice
Sometimes the judges see
That the best interest of the child
Goes beyond you and me.

Children are so vulnerable
In this dancing tug of war
So fathers keep your wits about you
Don't fight to settle a score.

Your children truly need you
In this time of change and strife
Remember you're their father
No one can take away that right.

So spin your plates if you must
And keep your anger in
Play their little games for a while
Pray that your children win.
Pray that your children win.

a short memory

a short memory

There were and still are two airports on the flatland
outside of our town, therefore many German soldiers
where stationed here.
Since roads, and bridges had to be built and maintained
there was good employment for everyone and the payment
was good, but not much to spend the money on
a German military band playing loudly in the park, a cinema showing heroic soldiers saving cats
when not killing Russians, a couple of cafes selling what was called coffee, but made of roasted peas
It was left to people, to go to meeting at Christian sects and that was OK by the Norwegian Nazis who were the moral police at the time
Young Nazis joined a battalion called “Vikings” sent to fight the communist in Russia where most of them perished, those who made it back home, faced long
jail terms for treason.
After the war there was a great upsurge of people joining the communists, after all, the Russians had freed
northern Norway of the enemy, Russia bought our fish
and Soviet “workers” came, and told of how wonderful, the life of ordinary people was
my mother, a well-read woman, small of stature, but vociferous about her new faith organized, with her brother, town hall meetings, until illness struck, and she
was sent to a sanatorium up the mountain, the war had
taken its toll
she, when returning, was still a communist till Russia
invaded Hungary
in our working-class community, my mother cut an odd figure, had a lashing tongue
did not tolerate fools, and lesser people feared her but we who loved her could not scare us
we knew she had a soft heart

The Wake of my Village

She's coming downhill fast, the homes are in her path
her cycle in the past that forwards reckless wrath,
the homes are in her path, she's coming downhill fast
that forwards reckless wrath, her cycle in the past.

Upward points the steeple seen high from up the hill,
movements by the people show motive tact and skill,
seen high from up the hill upward points the steeple,
show motive tact and skill movements by the people.

Midst foremost part of town the church bells chime away,
The first few homes burnt down there's no time to delay,
the church bells chime away, midst foremost part of town,
there's no time to delay, the first few homes burnt down.

As we met at the church, most wondered what's up next,
an outlook on top perch, through chapel nave complex,
most wondered what's up next as we met at the church,
through chapel nave complex, an outlook on top perch.

Prayed vigils are maintained, recovered lost now found,
exhaustive souls are drained as flow is gaining ground,
recovered lost now found, prayed vigils are maintained
as flow is gaining ground, exhaustive souls are drained.

It's time to clear the pews, evacuate the hall,
the final broadcast news, as hands held midst the pall,
evacuate the hall, it's time to clear the pews,
as hands held midst the pall, the final broadcast news.

As eyes testify souls, stained glass imagery stills,
the last suite yonder rolls, song rise as town soon falls,
stained glass imagery stills as eyes testify souls,
song rise as town soon falls the last suite yonder rolls.

Premium Member A Forties Woman

She was a forties woman thrown into another era
We had no idea that she wanted to be a para
She was dressed exotically with a veil on her face
Her hair would have reveled an alien’s in space

She was a forties woman who appeared shy and kept quiet
No matter how crazy our children, even if they caused a riot.
We would not have known her name if she had not given us a resume.
She maintained an even-keel status each and every day.

She was a forties woman who babysat our children and more.
The last I counted she was watching up to eighty-four.
In between watching she liked to wash and iron clothes.
Where this freak came from, none of us knows.

Premium Member -Her Name Is Ocean

Mother Natures child ….her name is Ocean
Independent , abundant with emotion
When her body of water is clean
Her mood is calm and serene

Countless days she is displeased with mankind
With those humans who are ignorant and blind
Treating her as a garbage bin
Just heaving their rubbish in

The days her waves crash with rage
Her anger has ascended to the next stage
Watching her marine life dying or distressed
From those humans who couldn’t care less

Aware mankind is working toward positive change
Dedication and education maintained
In time no longer a-washed with debris
Her marine life protected and free

Once a Nation Unmatched

Let's address the elephant in the room
A coward in power who could care less if we're doomed
A man of trust, more like a man of disgust
Who decided to give this liar a crown & push him to higher grounds, man enough is enough it's time we take a stand & call this man on his bluff
Our so called Idol is idle, full of shame & denial
Disregarded the poor then started a war saying it's for our survival which we know is a lie though because in reality we know he's just trying to hide his name which is tied to these claims that his bestie Jeffrey Epstein maintained in his files
The man's a creep let's face it, we can start with the basics Like him being a full blown racist full of hatred
Or the fact he's a man with no plan, out of touch with reality, lost deep in the matrix
On top of all that now there's leaks he's a rapist
Now he can't sleep at night, he hates it & refuses to face it
But let him tell it he claims they are jealous & it's nothing more than tasteless statements that are baseless
True to his sin, purely off bluffing he clearly started a war for nothing & us the people will suffer for that
Once again due to his actions & his lust for evil even he knows he's got to cover his tracks
Senses our dissatisfaction because we all know he's lying so again he supplies us another distraction in hopes it will cover his a-s-s before they uncover the facts
Figures if he can hide the proof then how can they provide the truth if within the files they choose to release they do it piece by piece, buying time to hide the crimes, only giving us the redactions with all original facts smothered in black
Just more lies & once again we're caught up in another one of his traps, a lapse in judgement followed by a sudden collapse but they say it's nothing relax
Of course I could do nothing & stand back like the others who are under his wrath & act like I understand this hate that he's hatched
But in doing the math the numbers don't match
We were once a land feared making other nations stand clear, believe it or not once upon a time we were a nation unmatched.

Premium Member A Contest Win of Friendship

A fledgling poet round two thousand three,
I found some friends who mentored me; they led
me to a site called Shadow Poetry.
By mental challenges there, I was fed.
I learned to better write according to
specific forms or themes, and I was thrilled
by all the many things that would ensue
the more time there I spent; I was fulfilled!

The annual big contest, Shadow Ink,
gave not just money, but a chapbook deal.
I paid to enter it and did not think
I stood a chance. How good I soon would feel!
My best friend and I tied. We HAD to call
our chapbook “Friendship Garden.” That said it all!

Note: Shadowpoetry.com was not able to be maintained as an interactive poetry community and after several wonderful years, the owner had to pull out. All our chapbooks were removed from the bookstore and the contests are no longer done. Today it is a website for writers' development only.

Your Home Is With Me

Many reasons left unsaid
For why I journey beyond your head
And why a space is left maintained
For when you say "let's meet again"

Reasons for a shedded tear
But never what you think you fear
The outside world they say "be warned!"
When inner demons are so near

Mental bruises deteriorates
Sanity at a rapid pace
And when it's gone we only have
A bond you swore would never break

Reasons why you're seen this bold
In dreams that just can't be retold
Is for a better want of word
A sheltered love to be unfold
And if you go you'll come back home
For you are mine and I am yours
