Boy Malaysia

Who is this Malaysian boy?
His style is dashing,
His eyes are beckoning.
He is the eastern boy from Nnewi,
With the hands that work all day,
Where poverty has no space.
He is the western boy from Ile-Ife,
With the reckoning personality of dignity,
Here,kingship breeds.
He is the northern boy from Daura,
With the ancestral voyage of valour,
A nature of prestige.

You'll find him in his abode,
In the central district of Kuala Lumpur,
He burns candles at both ends,
The Nigerian trait of dutifulness.
Leaving b'ami,ma'mi,Aduke and Akanni back home,
He had tears in his eyes.
Again, his face lit up with the hopes of riches and glamours.
"In the nearest years", he had said,"I'll be rich and famous".
"I'll buy mama, papa,Nwanne and Nna each,a plot of land".
"Magnificent structures will stand on each land".

"Aminatu and Aliyu will go to better schools",
"Ramatallahi will no longer be a milk-maid".
He said these when leaving the shores of his fatherland.
His kidneys are dually intact,
They are very special to him.
He has been taught the essence of hardwork.
He understands the menace of moral decadences,
And the consequences therein.
He's indeed not a drug peddler,
He is not into cybercrime,
He's only gone in search of greener pastures.

Premium Member New Words Marvel

Language breathes. Dictionaries opened their doors to thousands: petrichor finally named, gigil crossing oceans from Tagalog hearts, morto carrying Irish embarrassment across continents. Each word a technofossil in reverse and not debris but seed. Where analog crumbles into digital decay, new phonemes sprout from chat windows and kitchen tables, from Glasgow to Manila, Waterford to Johannesburg.

After warm rain falls
petrichor naming something
we always had known

The mouse jiggler hums on desks where we WFH, pretending presence while bed rotting through Sundays, doom-scrolling until brain fog sets in. A chatbot asks if I'm still there. Ghost kitchens feed nobody's neighbourhood. We've made words for our hollow industriousness, our productive stillness, our illuminated solitude, each term a hard pass at something we cannot quite refuse.

Screen glow at midnight
even the AI wonders
if we're still awake

But listen: teenagers shout skibidi at nothing and everything, absolutely delulu with joy, their rizz and aura untranslatable to us, perfect in their imperfection. A girl shows her butter skin lewk and someone says she ate and left no crumbs, bet. In Dublin, they're morto over spice bags; in Kuala Lumpur, tapau your nasi lemak with kaya on the side. The mouth remembers before the dictionary does. Alamak, how we've been speaking new languages all along.

Grandmother's recipe
lumpia rolls carrying words
the page can't hold yet

Perhaps this is the burnt toast theory of linguistics: what seems lost makes room for what must come. The broligarchy names itself. Gen Alpha coins snackable for their fractured attention, honest about their inheritance. Climavores choose with conscience; we practice eco-minimalism like prayer. Generative AI makes prose while we make slang, both of us biohacking meaning from the ruins of the old world, both of us marvelling that anything grows at all.

Sharp-sharp, we greet
this shoogly train of language
hold on, enjoy ride

Premium Member Malaysia Explained

Glorious Malaysia with her strawberry farms and butterfly gardens
She is a study in diversity, a beautiful adventure waiting for you.
Her beautiful secluded beaches surrounded by jungles entice us to visit.
She has several cultural influences – Malay, Chinese and Indian.

Gorgeous Malaysia parading her Perdana Botanical Garden.
Museums, seaside fort, historical homes and murals of Georgetown.
Mount Kinabalu, Merara Kuala Lumpur, and the Perhentian Islands.
She invites you to snorkel, dive, bird watch, raft and fish in her depths.

At her Batu Caves you will discover the Hindu Shrine of the God of War.
Her answer to the USA’s Las Vegas is found in the Genting Highlands.
Come see Sipadan Island and her Gunung Mulu National Park.
Malaysia, the adventure of your lifetime!

Natalie has been to five Paralympics, including Rio,
And recently took the bronze at World Powerlifting,
In Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia 2016, IPC World Cup -
It paralleled her Glasgow silver, Commonwealths.

She lifts in the 61kg class, but in Malaysia lifted a PB
Of 98kg. In 2013 at the Euros, Russia, she won silver,
And in 2015 at the Euros in Hungary she won bronze.
She’s competed longer than any other in powerlifting.

After finishing sixth at Rio she remarked: “I’m happy
with how I've done, I was hoping to get 3 good lifts
but just missed out on my 2nd. I'm pleased to clear
93kg, overall it was an amazing atmosphere, brilliant.”

Premium Member Do You Know Me

My friend, do you know me?
   I am a Pharisee
No, not per the dictionary
Which mischaracterizes my beliefs and me

For while he keeps the tradition, it's true
  A Pharisee's an ever-evolving Jew
He delves deep into the Talmud to learn the ways
to deal with the problems of the world today

Thanks to the Pharisees a Jewish-Israeli farmer
can halakhically* 'Sabbath-milk' a cow in its barn, or
devotedly observe Passover or Yom Kippur
be he in the jungle, outer space, or Kuala Lumpur

What's more, be it abortion, euthanasia or homosexuality
the Talmud treats current issues of controversiality --
A Pharisee views the times in light of the Talmud, you see
~ differentiating his faith from Hebraic-Christianity**

________________________________________________
* halakhically = in accordance with Jewish Law, in this case
                        the laws of the Sabbath
** Practitioners (for a few generations after Jesus Christ)
                        were known as Hebrew-Christians.

Love Is a Fragile Nocturn

The male ward is never quiet at night,
machines hooked-up to invisible bodies
buzz and beep.
Someone’s moaning in his sleep.
I listen to the late-shift nurses gossiping
at their station.
Follow their footsteps as they move
from somewhere to some other place.
Every hour she arrives by my bed to check my vitals.
mostly I contrive to be unconscious -
just savoring her gentle touch.
Beds creak as patients turn in their discomfort.
I know what she looks like; petite, lovely.
I got myself stabbed in Kuala Lumpur, my fault,
got too drunk to be careful. It’s 1981
back then China Town could get rough.
I’m planning to marry the Chinese nurse
soon as I am up and about.
Meanwhile the other sick folks here
piss their beds, fart, or cough up a lung,
seemingly hell bent on disturbing
my drug induced fantasies.

Zoe Newson

Zoe was born 1992 and is a Paralympic powerlifter,
Who was born with growth hormone deficiency,
In Ipswich, she attended East Bergholt school, lifter,
And enjoyed the Suffolk School Games, proficiency.

She tried the sport of powerlifting for the first time,
In 2006, and as a result of the thrill of successful lifts,
She joined the Suffolk Spartans club in 2007, dime,
To lift 40kg later that year at a local games, her fists.

Then in Cardiff at the Worlds she managed 47.5kg,
Where she came in second, and then later in 2008,
In May, she had a PB of 60kg, and then repeating
This in June to take British Champion in her weight.

Then in Cardiff again, in 2009 Zoe dropped a class,
But lifted 70kg to come first, then in the 2009 summer,
At the World Dwarf Games she did gate with her brass,
75kg, which she repeated at the British Finals, bumper.

Bangalore 2009 November and the World Games,
And she did take both the junior and senior silver,
But back at Cardiff again she came first, no pains,
In 2010, then improved to 85kg at the BFs to deliver.

She broke the European junior record, she’d doubled,
Her weight to lever 85kg, and then in Kuala Lumpur,
At the Worlds she came first in the junior, not buckled,
And she did come fourth as well in the event senior.

But she lost out on medal position by coming fourth,
At the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland,
In the year 2010, on the run-up to the London gorse,
Then back in Cardiff again, 2014, a first she did land.

She concentrated hard for the London Paralympics,
To focus, drive and push for success and the best,
So as the only GB competitor in the under 40kg mix,
She equalled her PB with 88kg taking bronze, chest.

Mosques embellish the land in grandeur
Arts of its city including its Petronas Twin Tower at Kuala Lumpur
Langkawi flaps its wings beckoning its great wonder
Atop of mountains viewed the paradise by a cable car tour.
You and I will enjoy its beauty like fresh hibiscus flower
Smiles remain on lips of frequent visitors and travelers
I take pride of its warm accommodation each time of the year
And for verdant natures of Penang, I’ll give a toast, cheers!
