When Peg laughs like Liz
deep woman-hearted laugh
eating beef jerky on Mesa Verde
the good hearts and smarts of women
come back to me, not guessing
any better than they at the time what love
meant, leaving them behind in sandstone time
going to my own cement, sandstone
or good mountain grave
having seen the sharp-shinned and sparrow
hawk flying and at rest, not at peace,
seeking prey from a ponderosa snag.
I left my woman behind to float
alone down the long canyon for feathers
and signs, she's making camp
the moon half full, the sun half high
sky full of planets birds and stars
I look up from the rocks
elements
housekeeping, thinking
love that's learned to love
from earlier loves
laughs remembered, heard
in the laugh of the woman who is my wife.
Dedicated to my friend Liz:
Rays of sunshine shines over you
Giving a massive dosage of optimism
When the dark shadows menace
To turn you spirit upside down
It is not easy to live without
A loving husband and children
Specially in a society when
Silently you are seen as a misfit
When do not require the parameters
Stereotyped for decades for the ladies
Understand you perfectly, since I am
In the same situation as you are
Remember always, everything in life
Has a divine purpose, although not seen
Smile, shake off the dust, and celebrate life
Without any burdens that weigh you down

Once upon a time, Liz Unicorn,
was quite unhappy with her tiny horn,
and one sad, lonely day began to bawl,
cause horns of friends her age shot up so tall.
Right then appeared Fred Frog, portly and plump,
who jumped onto her smooth and shiny rump.
"Now please don't cry, Liz Unicorn, you see
your horn will grow and shine amazingly!
For now, it's using up growth energy
to make a sturdy base that sure will be
much better to support the best 'horn-crown',
for it will be the tallest one around.
You see some finer things take time to build;
be patient and I know you will be thrilled."
Liz turned her head to blow a thankful kiss
to kind Fred Frog who offered hopeful bliss!

Burton and Taylor.. lived often
in trailers..In a way they still do.' Though on tv.'
And pc's also phones now, mind you.' I see they've kept up
With (the times) just a note in my rhymes
Dick was never failed by his libido, nor was
Lizz, as far as we know? I guess one
thing was
In his favour.' Thats the gifts he often gave
Her..It seems he knew what made her tick
So. He provided much in lapro-dizzy-ac.' Now
Those great diamond rocks, sure soothed her 'whole
Being' or so i'm told.? may these lines
Lift your soul.? Levity cant hurt us, if its
Warm, not cold.' So i leave you some lines
That might stick.? Sort of? well?? In you mind,
Yes!! A laugh-rod-isiac.) I know.?
Ha ha.' Or even ho? This poem being
Rather slick..I hope it'll do do the trick.?
Going for a ride in my automobile
On this bright and sunshiny day
What a wonderful world we live in
Acting in our own love play
The starring role, I have top billing
Going to be a real block buster
Positive reviews will come streaming in
Offering all the roles they can muster
It's gonna feature a gorgeous new star
Stage name is Miss Liz LaRue
The darling of stage, screen, and laptops
She's also a great poet too
You'll fall in love with this seductive beauty
She's a charmer, a real class act
Featured on all the late night talk shows
But she'll never forget her Jack
So I'm going for a ride in my automobile
To reflect on my life up till now
Promising to be my happiest time yet
To top it, I'll never know how
