The Shadow of the Sun
Empty conversations full of
words with no point…
Happy statements that hide
what is real…
Long talks that betray nothing
of the past…
Days on end of words
exchanged…but no insight to
the truth...
Years of close contact…but
nothing has been revealed…
The truth is like a shadow…
hiding in the sun…
The shadow that shines in
darkness…that is the dark of
the moon…
The sun’s warmth sheds no
light…on the fear that is
within…
The youth of yesterday holds
the key inside…and treasures
the gift of trust…
The warrior inside fears loss
and pain from vulnerability…but
finds refuge in absolute love…
Mutual unfailing loyalty…is what
keeps the cracked heart
beating…
The scars ignored only…when
loves embrace infinitely
shields…against the eternal
pain…
The foreigner unceasingly
waited…to sneak a peek
inside…but found instead the
fulfillment…to keep them both
alive…
The hindrance of time and
money…only increases the
need…to embrace to stop the
fear…to keep the past’s damage
from resurfacing…
The darkness fills the void…of
icy caves of loss…the hope from
mature youth…strives to heal
the ancient wounds…
The absence of absolute
physical presence…stunts the
hope given by youth’s
ceaseless friendship…
The past’s agony…kept
obscure…by the fabricated
contentment…burns the torn
soul of the angel inside…
The hope that attempts to
banish the shadow…increased
by the love of many…shines
brightly…shrouded by the
Shadow…of the Sun…

This Much
this much I need and a bit more
a smiling face to go with the knock at my door
the wind that blows and the snow that falls
childrens laughter echoing down the halls
a rose in bloom beside the garden path
a robin sitting upon the edge of the bird bath
a dear friend to drop by and sit
to share sweet memories for a bit.
this much I need and a little more
sometimes things are worth asking for
a comrade to be near, to learn to face my fears
to speak of folks with kind words
tell the good things we have heard
the comfort of family and friends
to cherish the time with them you spend
hope that these things never end
this much I need and so much more
I crave, I hunger, I long for
I need a house, I need a warm fire
whatever else I may desire
to have a special someone in my heart
pray we are strong enough that we don't fall apart
a bit of food to eat, a good book to read
hope it's not to much to ask, this much I need
Form:
As the sun sets and the moon showed it's face,
Wow reality sets in and the moods switch places.
It's so bizarre how the sunlight has a impact,
Not only on the earth but also in our mindlack
.
You thank our Dear Lord for all the days blessings,
Look at your children, and hope they took lessons.
It's a wicked world on the outside.
It kills the kids but still they abide.
I say life is not so bad and remember what i have,
as you sit and look so sad, i wonder are you mad.
Tomorrow is a new day, hope it a sunny one!
Openening the blinds was so much fun,
there it was my energy and my strength,
to pull me thru for last night was a full moon..

He looked up at the skies as if he saw the heavens open as his heart bled
seeing the clouds engulf the face of the earth
reluctantly, he was glad he was living
a lifeless soul, but still breathing
the mysterious misery of his daily life left him stranded and soaked in his worldly desires
drenched in the tears of his abominable fears
he lived outside in the cold, the last place he preferred
he lost his job, couldn't pay his rent
he went around begging, humiliated
this thought continually recurred in his head "How do I start all over again"
He lay outside in the cold for over two months
shivering in tears, gnashing for hope
feeling abandoned
to him all hope was lost
Good news!
a letter of appointment had arrived at his former residence
the present occupant read the name on it
to his amazement, it was addressed to his current residence and had the name of the former
occupant
the man in the paper who had taken his life by slashing his wrists
Please don't give up
your time will come
here is a message of hope for us all.
Form:
In perpetual slow motion the wheel of fate will turn,
What is given in abundance will surely be taken away.
Leaving only questions of why that scald and burn
When the bill seems so unfairly high to accept and pay.
For the lean will yap on the heels of prosperous fat
A dire warning that silver linings are a one way gate.
For when I blindly come out to take my turn to bat
I'm unaware of the curve ball thrown by fickle fate.
So I bargain with God and Fate and Lady Luck
Omnipotent in some far off nebulous recess.
In rules beyond my understanding I am stuck
A helpless pawn in their intricate game of chess.
For fortune can shatter and turn on a simple dime
I search for meaning in a game I don't wish to play.
In the running sands of my life and remaining time
Illusive hope the only constant I pray for today.
In perpetual slow motion the wheel of fate will turn,
Surely giving back that which has been taken away.
Everlasting hope and despair that evolve and churn
As I drink deeply from the cup of maybe-some-day.
I Walked in shadow
Lost and alone
Demons dogging every step
Intoxicated with sorrow
Taking over
becoming she
IS she
In the shadow friends come
Blind to my demon
Sightless to being
Becoming invisable
wailing at friends , See me !!
But still nothing
recognition gone
Light snuffed out
No flicker of hope ..
Refused to see
Or be seen
I Forgot the girl
the woman
My denial the daughter
And sister
Hated to be she
Drowning in misery
Shadowed in cloaks of sorrow
Hiding in the halls of misery
Suffering the demon
Witnessing hell
Evolving into Purah
Sorrow’s own nobility
An old man
relic of better times
See’s the demon !!!
Tempt’s the demon
purifing light
burning and fighting
The princess is dethroned
Caste into the pit of hell
Seeking and searching
The next victim
Sadly she will find
I am aware blooming
A glimmer of a smile
A spark of iris
my Hope life
Sorrow a shadow forever
But forgotten
So is as neverwas

I guess some questions are hard to define
Like the desert landscape I’ve changed with time
I’ve spent my life dealing with a monkey
A dope cook, convict, a worthless junkie
A prison gang member, nothing to lose
Then one day I stepped out of those shoes
Decided to change whatever the cost
Prove in this life, hope is never lost
42-years of living the wrong way
I turned to the Lord and gave it away
I am old and gray with wisdom for truth
I hope that I can enlighten the youth
I serve Jesus Christ for he is my Lord
Picked up my Bible and laid down my sword
I’m a student who truly loves to learn
I reckon in this life, I’ve earned my turn
I’m a man who truly adores my wife
Guiding my kids through the trials of life
A born again christen able to see
A poet’s heart is bubbling in me
Everything a man could be in this life
Serving my Lord in honor of my wife
A man who made use of all his regret
I’m the morning sunrise, evening sunset
The circle is starting to come together,
Like a storm you feel it approach and you brace for uncertain weather.
You know that your flame which once burned so bright,
Will be extinguished like a star that shoots across the night.
You just hope that you made a difference and were the best that you could be,
That you led no one astray and was a good influence for all around to see.
And when your candle makes its final flicker,
You’ll be ready to go without a qualm and face this day with just a snicker.
You can never have things finished or completely in order,
No matter how hard you try it only gets harder.
My motto used to be “always try to leave things a little better than you found them,”
And I hope when I’m gone people will say, “Gosh I'm going to sure miss him.”
Or maybe he was a good guy or he was a true friend,
That is how I’d like to be remembered and thought about in the end.
Louis: How are things down there? Hear the Northern and Southern States are
having quite the disagreement. Congrats for becoming president.
Abraham: You're right about the unrest. I just hope a war doesn't break out soon.
How did you get so far- and even leave Earth - in the first place?
Seems to me it would be colder than ice out there!
Louis: Thank goodness for rockets and spacesuits. That's what enaabled me to
travel to the moon - not that I expect you to understand in your time! And believe
me you're right about the cold! Feels great to be weightless too.
Abraham: Man on the moon sure is quite the achievement. Probably beats all these
appointments I have! Well, have to sign bills, meet people, and so forth. Have a
great time and bring back a moon rock!
Louis: Thanks and hope you don't get too busy! Going to spend a while out here
and hooray for America! See you later.

Medical pot is just what I don’t need.
Took me twenty four years to mend
my craving for the lesser evil deed,
not counting the dough I had to spend.
Cigarettes are nothing compared to pot.
Say what you want, your physical health
deteriorates, your mind starts to rot.
Your life declines, along with your wealth.
The case history of a young girl in need,
I was fortunate enough to have privy to.
At twenty four she was doing the dirty deed.
Just to buy pot and do what pot heads do.
Busted several times over five years.
You can see her decline at a glance.
The booking photos bring on tears.
Her aging from pot is very advanced.
So, no I don’t need the wonder weed.
I hope you don’t let it bring you strife.
This is the advice I hope you’ll heed.
You, your family, all those in your life.
