Wheel of Fate

In perpetual slow motion the wheel of fate will turn, What is given in abundance will surely be taken away. Leaving only questions of why that scald and burn When the bill seems so unfairly high to accept and pay. For the lean will yap on the heels of prosperous fat A dire warning that silver linings are a one way gate. For when I blindly come out to take my turn to bat I'm unaware of the curve ball thrown by fickle fate. So I bargain with God and Fate and Lady Luck Omnipotent in some far off nebulous recess. In rules beyond my understanding I am stuck A helpless pawn in their intricate game of chess. For fortune can shatter and turn on a simple dime I search for meaning in a game I don't wish to play. In the running sands of my life and remaining time Illusive hope the only constant I pray for today. In perpetual slow motion the wheel of fate will turn, Surely giving back that which has been taken away. Everlasting hope and despair that evolve and churn As I drink deeply from the cup of maybe-some-day.

I have been told ..to some extent it is a matter of perspective ex: the constant rain makes me blue, sad..I could focus somewhere else say on the peaceful sound of it and enjoy the down time? I enjoy your excellent writing. Light & Love

Oh Heidie, I too; frequently wonder my purpose and the reasons for it all. How can I possibly make bad choices if my eyes are on him, for him. Yet I'm reminded that, we can not recognize the good without having experienced the bad, so I try my best to look at each set back not as a door closing, but as a sky opening. -AA

Guess we all "bargain with God" when we feel like there is no solution to our problems. The wheel of fate seems to be a fickle one; we can only hope it will restore what has been taken away. Yet, we are left to wonder why we have incurred these losses anyway. This excellent poem gives usmuch to ponder and goes to my favorites. Thank you! Carolyn

very deep, fate is something that is so hard to understand and sometimes a bit scary since it shows that there are things that are beyond our control but this lonely bard had seen fate at work and i do appreciate this poem. A well written piece on a subject that surely has affected everyone's life one way or the other. I hope that fate will always smile on you Make your life good and filled happiness that's true. Keep on writing. John E

The essence of this poem is wonderful. The impermanence of life is troubling to some. However, some must learn how to flow with the wind and the songs between ifs flow. Great job! ~Joseph

One of the many sayings my granddad had was "what goes around comes around." It took many years for me to grasp the real meaning of his wisdom but like Jesus spoke the seeds we sow are the seeds we reap, that to finally made sense. We all can get past the despair and hold on tight to the everlasting hope. God Bless my precious friend. Ron
