I am a real scaredy cat
and there's absolutely nothing that
I could do about that.
I'm scared of 'roaches
I'm scared of rats
I'm scared of spiders
and afraid of bats
I fear all arachnids
and I fear those gnats
Oh I fear all the kinds I find
of those creepy crawly brats!
And but what can I do about that?
Huh and who woudn't fear
a midnight rat-a-tat?
So I've resigned myself to being
a lifelong scaredy cat.
Yeah and I'm scared of heights
Scared of noises at night
Gah, I'm really quick to fright!
I'm scared of grasshoppers and even of dogs
Gosh there's hardly a thing that I ain't scared of.
But I admit I am a timid tigress
otherwise I'm a harmless human who don't hurt a fly
Normally just a normal lady, a humble poetess
I attack only when provoked to the limits
so as I'm a cat after all
I do show my tiger claws if the situation demands
or else I don't mind chickening out
of aggressive and foolhardy involvements.
And maybe if everybody was a coward like me
they wouldn't hurt each other with sheer brutality.
I guess for ladies it's not so bad to be
a bit more cowardly
In any case that's far better than being
a ruffian who's dastardly!
And oh, lastly but not the least
ah yes, I also greatly fear
any lustful male leer
I'd rather I'm invisible to their view
So I really find huge refuge
in the dear divine idea that exhorts me to
to drape and wrap myself from top to toe
in flowing garbs when I step outdoors
and that veiling attire does make me brave
as I feel vulnerable no more
and that's when I feel the transformation from lil kitty
into the big cats
from scaredy cat to formidable tigress
and that's when for once there's NOTHING I fear anymore! :)
as I go out veiled in soft armour from top to toe.
And I feel I can face the chauvinistic foe

FAITH IN GOD WHO IS OUR DELIVERER
God is our deliverer against fear
Along His assurance of guidance-gear
For us to continue with His courageous cheer
While we cling to Him by faith, and His Word we always hear.
God is our deliverer against bitterness with His mercy
Along His kindness and mercy
For us to trust Him against fallacy
While we seek Him by faith upon steadfast fervency.
God is our deliverer against disobedience with His commandments
Along His proving judgements regarding selfish achievements
For us to be warned of our worldly engagements
While we prioritize Him by faith in our ministry involvements.
God is our deliverer against worries with His goodness
Along His love and graciousness
For us to rejoice in His works of wondrousness
While we pray to Him by faith, acknowledging His greatness.
God is our deliverer against weakness with His might
Along His empowerment, fighting our fright
For us to stand upon His truth’s height
While we walk by faith, not by sight.
God is our deliverer against laziness with His admonition
Along His discipline for our spiritual exhortation
For us to study His Word, enjoying Bible-meditation
While we delight in Him by faith in our daily devotion.
God is our deliverer against selfishness with His wisdom
Along His enlightenment of divine freedom
For us to worship through His leadership, devoid of boredom
While we serve Him by faith, advancing His kingdom.

Too weak to speak what’s alienating me from the things
Persons I love I look around me to find I stand alone
Me strong myself worthy I believing I can
The air is toxic no shame in feeling this way and in what you say
The heart has its own way of expressing how it feels
To often miss cured as having a missing screw
Who are you to judge with no jury if the shoe fit wears it?
Let’s see how far it takes you with standing someone else’s adversities
The rainbow comes only when the sun and clouds collide
No shame in your step for stepping out is a sign of independence
We’re not necessarily forced to agree not to in-stent that my cause
Discomfort to others was a mere reflection of our self- involvements
We're owed something that we must gain on our own respect for self and others
Time has its way of making you wiser and sees things in a different light
Much lighter then accustom to the different lightening people things change
Some for the better good some for the worst keeping in mind staying true
To yourself is always the key and golden rule treat others as you would yourself
Not often practice makes perfect sense I have always stand-alone not really
For there is one that I have always felt standing by me through thick and thin
To him, I give the glory when feeling overwhelm take a knee speak from the heart
For he already knows just like you to hear yourself and believe
He who made me gets me through thick and thin through day and night
Through ups and downs through the go around I’ll keep my head above water for
That’s what he want me to do in writing this I am not alone not at all
He that has the greater power is and has been with me amen
Enabled by God, the Author and Exemplar of giving
they exercise granting deeds of generous thriving…
With sincere gratitude, we commend them midst bliss:
foremost are parents showering unconditional love from hearts abyss…
brother and sisters, great siblings for their support
as well as cheering friends who show caring escort…
teachers, mentors, counselors in their constant reaching-out
ministering, imparting truth and wisdom without doubt…
neighbors, colleagues, fellows presenting worthy community involvements
along peace and order sentinels toward good progress engagements…
pets like our cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, hamsters as relievers of stress
not forgetting our gardens with plants and flowers, pacifying distress…
hobbies against rigorous schedule, bestowing sweet pleasure
work, job, task and chores, upholding or adding to financial treasure…
nature, environment, parks, home of refuge serving as security-haven
sanctuary or worship places that bring our souls nigh to heaven…
how about trials and sufferings that develop virtuous attitude
sustaining will-power, enhancing prayerfulness’ fortitude…
numerous can still be added since we are always blest
with givers*, (including ourselves) that unselfishly, contribute the best.

By Your sanctifying directives

3rd place, "Pick a Friend on Soup" Poetry Contest

It seems as if it were like yesterday
when the Latino community made their dwelling
where they used to meet and celebrate on Sundays
at St Paul’s parish, the second home for them.
Their gift of relationships and act of thanksgiving
portrayed in many chapters of their involvements;
their songs, laughters, and humble supplications
reminded me of their belonging to a family of the faithfuls.
Indeed, as I think of what we’ve built and formed
especially in many occasions or sacred celebrations;
I can’t help but recall those mem’ries with inspiration
that our journey must go on with God’s mercy for all.
The genesis of human formation, along with participation,
provides us with a clear understanding of their culture;
it’s a languge of their customs and traditions as God’s people,
lived in an environment where there’s caring and loving.
I cherish the moments when we held the kids’ confirmation,
also, their first communion preceded by their catechetical instructions;
such a milestone that everyone made it to turn up on these events,
like a promise, a homecoming that God awaits us all.
The eucharist that highlights our community gathering,
makes us aware that Christ is always at the center
of every individual’s life and effort for thanksgiving
this sacred meal is fundamental to family sharing.
Well, as our parish merges with the parish of the Assumption
changes, however, enable us to welcome them with openness;
activities, along with the calendar of events that’s in store for us,
a journey of discovery, a process that will make us grow.
armed with a plunger
he stares down into the
toilet bowl, as the waste
he’s just expelled
captivates him &
a whole swirl of
ideas comes flooding
like a parade of pummeling
tropical storms tearing at
the shore---
that all this was inside him &
now its not,
that all the nutrients the
body found no use for
are being flooded down & out
of their own accord,
that it all says something
about the supposed concept
of “free will,” when
no priests, ministers,
rabbis, mullahs or imams
are in any better of a position
when watching the urine
stream out of their member
straight down into that
Holy Bowl, which levels
all religions, all political
factions, all skirmishes
caused by personal romantic
involvements & afflictions,
all idiosyncratic fragmentations
of our psyches, all temper
tantrum moments of extreme
violence & all eons upon
eons of sloth-like lethargy,
with one crouching down
or standing up, in the event
of a bowel movement,
pressing out the sludge for
which the body itself decides
no necessity remains---
so humbled by the drama of
it all, so taken in by the
mighty flush, he awaits,
plunger in hand,
for the failure accompany the human
error involved
when the toilet had been
constructed, so that only a specific
amount of excrement & toilet
paper, can make its way down the
pipe---
with this plunger, he will exorcise
all the excreta, all the stool, all the
drippings, droppings & sweaty
fecal matter, that’s been deemed
without conscious consent
to be not worthy of this day, this
24 hour period, here in
sweet sweet evolution.
