' Outlaw Ballad ... ' (Part 1 of 2) (Cowboy Poem # 9)

You Rode Into My Town
Gunned all The Lonely Deputies Down
Blew-Up The Bank Of Trust, In Our Face …
Where, There Was Hope … Is Now Empty Space …
               … Now, I Gotta Chase You ! …

        Outlaw !
Armed and Dangerous
        Outlaw !
Jesse James, Would Be Jealous
  … of You – Outlaw !
You’re Outrageous …
… and You’re An Outlaw ! …

Stealing Hearts, Like They Was Gold
… Silver Bullets, Are The Lies, You Told
Just A Masked-Man, Running Away …
No Longing-Arms, Can Make You Stay
… This Is Where You Pay (Now) ! …

        Outlaw !
# 1 On Our Wanted List …
        Outlaw !
They Told Me You Never Miss ! …
        Outlaw !
… In A Duel, or A Quick Kiss …
… You’re An Outlaw !

Rustlin’ Cows and Cheating at Cards
Done Knocked Down, Many A Weak and Off-Guard
I Will Chase You Long and Hard
To Show You, How It Feels To Be Scarred …
                  … My Personal Reward ! …

        Outlaw !
$ 10,000.00 Reward
        Outlaw !
A Dollar, For Each Broken Heart
        Outlaw !
… Better Get A Head-Start …
        Outlaw !

Chorus:

Oh, I didn’t do Anything / That’s What All Outlaws Sing!
Oh, I didn’t do Anything / Then, This is Just A Real Bad Dream!
Oh, I didn’t do Anything / Stop! … Then, Where’s Her Dadgum Ring? …
                                Outlaw …

You Avoid Honor, Like A Hangman’s Noose
Out There, Wild and Still Running Loose
Wanted Posters, Up On Every Wall
When They Look At It … Tears Just Fall …
                   … You’re A Real Quick-Draw ! …

        Outlaw !
Look At That Brim …
        Outlaw !
Cocked-Low, Like A Trigger-Rim …
        Outlaw !
… Yeah, That’s Him ! …
 … It’s The Outlaw ! …

This is Showdown For Nerves-On-Edge
No More Hide-Outs; Not Another Hedge
No More Ladies, Lying On A Ledge
No More Lies, Or A Broken Pledge …
                   … See This Badge !!! …

        Outlaw !
I Shoot Straight From A Curve-Hip …
        Outlaw !
You Won’t Get To Give Me The Slip …
        Outlaw !
You’re Gonna Get Wild-Whipped …
        Outlaw !

Chorus:

Girl, I Know You’re Hurtin’ / But He Was Only Flirtin’
Luv, Stop Your Crying / Break Free From His Lying
Hon, I’m Doing You A Favor / He Ain’t Never Gonna Put No Ring On Your Finger …
                           He’s An Outlaw !

Premium Member Why the Lights Went Out

Are you ok?! Matt, asked as his eyes searched the dark. Fear gnawed at his spirit. “Yeah, I’m ok…wait!, I can’t feel my legs!”. His girlfriend cried. “I can’t feel my legs, Hon! It’s like they’re not there!” He leaned over, holding on to her, feeling for her legs. Then he breathe a sigh of relief, that they were fine. “Just lean on me, Baby”. “Where’s everybody?” she asked. One minute there were others walking, driving in cars, street and car lights lit the streeet, now they stood in pitch black darkness, confused and afraid of the unknown.

“I think we should sit right here, out of the path until we figure out what’s
happening”, he suggested. “Yeah, I guess". But what's with my legs?” “I
remember there was a bench a few feet back just alongside of the sidewalk, near
an oak tree”. He took out his cell phone, it would reflect some light and nothing
happened, it was dead. His nerves were rattled by the situation. “Look, we’re going
to have to feel our way towards that bench, Honey. Can you feel the street
beneath you now?” He asked. “No, I can’t”. She replied, her voice shaky. “Ok, here
we go.” Matt picked her up in his strong arms and with ginger steps, began to walk
in the opposite direction, using his left foot to feel alongside the concrete for the
wooden bench. With electricity this would take a few seconds, however, this
seemed like it would take forever. Finally his Nike touched the edge of the bench
and he turned to place her down gently.

Grateful that was over, his mind began to focus once more. Standing up, his eyes
searching the darkness seemingly endless, he realized that it would be
impossible to walk back home, as maneuvering the streets was something he could
do by himself, but not if he carried her in his arms. Silence ruled the darkness
with each passing moment. It felt like they were in a vacuum. None of the usual
cricket sounds you hear on warm summer night could be heard. He could tell she
was scared by her voice tone. Her whispers were hardly audible; just enough for
him to hear as he stood close to her. He sat down finally to rest. He'd lost track of
time and hours seemed to pass in dead silence, without one flicker of light.

What Her Father Gave, Part Ii

II.
Carmen had no other family left,
and said,”I guess I can give it a try.”
Her mother beamed. “I live in Miami,
I’ll pay for some movers to come by!”

That was how Carmen found herself living
in the guest home of her mother’s mansion,
it was almost as large as her old house,
but was much more ornate and well-done.

The first day Fileena was hugs and smiles,
she helped Carmen unpack all her things,
before she left, she said,”I’m so excited!
Tomorrow I’ll show you where you’re working!”

When morning came they drove down in a Benz,
Carmen expected to see a large office,
but Fileena pulled up to an aging warehouse,
said,”Doesn’t look like much, but here it is.”

Inside they passed stacks of packaged powder
as they walked to her mom’s office suite,
Carmen said,”Mom, what do you do here?”
Fileena said,”Isn’t is obvious, sweety?

“Not an ounce of product passes this town
without first being shunted my way,
and given how this country is going
it’ll be legalized one of these days.

“That’s what I intend to pass on to you,
when the time comes for me to retire,
you’ll want for nothing, the riches you’ll have,
most people for their whole lives just aspire.”

Carmen said,”This is a lot to take in…
it’s all come as such a big surprise.
Can I maybe go home and think about it?”
Said Fileena,”Sure hon, take your time.”

Carmen did not go straight to the guest house,
she spent hours wandering about to think
about her few choices, the gravity of it all…
should she go along, or call the precinct?

She puzzled over it a great deal that day,
weighing her situation and her hopes,
she went to the mansion early the next morn,
said,”Mom, I want you to show me the ropes.”

Fileena smiled, and they spent the whole day
moving around the warehouse on a tour,
half-way through said Fileena,”In coming years,
I’m going to teach you about so much more.”

Carmen saw everything she need to,
she saw the basement where the product was made,
saw the chemists hired by Fileena
to specialize the drugs by their grades.

She saw the dealers as they came in,
to give Fileena her cut, and resupply,
she even met the thugs who reminded folks
that to cheat Fileena was to die.

Cruel Rage

Pushed and fallen apart…
Worn the brave face
While I sweat in my heart
In this rapid-paced race

I survived the storms you whirled inside me
I arrived complete in dawn's light delightfully
Deleted the lack of passion progress I felt back then
Again, you never really cared, so I hide in my den

That is disappointing you stole away my inner pride in me,
The healthy pride that was the confidence that was a sea
A refuge to my soul and my everything…my everything…oh dear
You force fed me cruel rage, just in case you weren’t aware, I fear

You weren’t there, not even a hair
I still want to hold on, one more dare…
Your touch got cold and who knew
We would end up here, stuck like glue

Remember, I have known you for years
Wish I could fully forget the struggles we faced, we faced
Trace me upon your memory's reflection
Don’t reject me and bury me under, feeling so disgraced

You can’t break me by your cruel rage
You can’t hurt me because I’m leaving
I am not your pet in this screwed-up cage
Sorry, hon, but I am done with grieving

Saying my goodbyes to your lies
Bidding my farewells to time flies
Ignoring your calls and lullabies
Your anger and abuse…slowly…dies…

Wet explosions spill out of my eyes vastly
Won’t look back and don’t try to find me
Be very strong
Because I will
You’re wrong
About me still
Frozen in bed
Dealt with dread
I smile and smack away the fretful frowns
I’ll run the mile and kick down my downs

Burning the letters in my mind
That rewind your cruel rage
Thank you for leaving me behind...
That backtrack my dejected page

There are many other pages to cover
Eventually, I will recover
From your cruel, heartless rage
Under cover, but released from your ribcage

Rinsed away the raindrops from bitter clouds, oh blessed curse
While guilt overflowed immensely, but I seek tragedy in reverse…
Far, far away from your cruel, heartless rage
Under cover, but unleashed by spiritual sage…

Unleashed by your cruel rage…
Release me, unforgotten ribcage…
If not, darling, wait…
God will, it is my fate

Shelter me,
Spiritual remedy…

Ah, but that cruel cage
Cut down that awfully mad page

Orson Welles did an adaptation of "The War of the Worlds"
book written by HG Wells, on Halloween Night Oct 30,1938.
It aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network.
Directed by actor and future filmmaker Orson Wells. It was an
American radio drama through the Mercury Theatre on the Air.
It was a news bulletin for the first 40 minutes suggesting an
Alien Invasion, by Martians. Causing real mass panic through
out some areas that people were listening. The listening audience
thought it was real, when it was not.
________________________________________________________________________
A farmer and his wife listening to the Broadcast.

"All my God Phyllis grab the shotgun
and make sure it's loaded!"
"The Martians, the Star People, their
craft has crashed and exploded!!"

"I think I saw one out there in the
dark!!"
"For heaven sake Carl, lets hurry
 and get in the car!!"

"I'm not going out there forget the
car!!"
"They have Ray guns hon, we
wouldn't make it so far!!"

"I'm so scared Carl you think they
will hurt us!?"
     "I don't know Phyllis, it's in God
we trust."
" I heard noises coming from the
roof!"
"Oh my God Carl, what are you
going to do?"

"If I see one I am shooting to kill!"
"Stay here Phyllis and sit still!"

"Your going to leave me here by
myself, no Carl stay inside!?"
"I have to go and shoot that alien
Phyllis, right between the eyes!!"

Carl ran out the door and much to
to his surprise.
Up on the roof there was a Raccoon,
with big eyes.

Carl now realized what he had
seen.
Embarrassed to tell his wife Phyllis,
he smiles, still scared, but with a grin.

Just then over the Radio Phyllis
hears.
"This is not a real event, were sorry for
bringing so much fear."

      Phyllis grabbed the radio after
hearing the news.
In front of Carl she smashed the
Radio in two!!!!

Box

Come on and open me up
Come on and open me up

Come on and open me up as well as you do with your gracious, intriguing box
Think outside the box – they all say
I don’t mind at all, doing the laundry and I always wear mismatched socks
Think outside the box all day, everyday

Spread glitter all over my body
I don’t care much about everybody,
Looking my direction in laughter
I know I look like a total disaster

Come on and open me up as well as you do with your gracious, intriguing box
Think outside the box – they all say
I don’t mind at all, doing the laundry and I always wear mismatched socks
Think outside the box all day, everyday

I knew all along that you would recognize
My shadows and reflections in your eyes
Realize you are stronger than you realize
I am like the hamburger without the fries

Come on and open me up
Come on and open me up
Come on and open me up
Come on and open me up as well as you do with your gracious, intriguing box
Think outside the box – they all say
I don’t mind at all, doing the laundry and I always wear mismatched socks
Think outside the box all day, everyday

Now, I dance with me, myself and I
It’s all about me, hon, I cannot deny
Open me up, come on…come on…
Open me up till the break of dawn

Come on and open me up as well as you do with your gracious, intriguing box
Think outside the box – they all say
I don’t mind at all, doing the laundry and I always wear mismatched socks
Think outside the box all day, everyday

The walls are closing in on me once again
Left wondering where the hell you been…
Open me up, come on…come on…
Open me up till all of me is gone!

Come on and open me up as well as you do with your gracious, intriguing box
Think outside the box – they all say
I don’t mind at all, doing the laundry and I always wear mismatched socks
Think outside the box all day, everyday

Leave me be, haters of the deep
Stop being judgmental, you creep
I long for a good night’s sleep…
I long for a future, frog-like leap

Come on and open me up as well as you do with your gracious, intriguing box
Come on and open me up as well as you do with your new pair of clean socks

'it's a Cold Night - Cowboy'

I was driving home in my Pick-up
When I saw something Strange…
… a Cowboy Sat atop His Horse
Calling Someone’s Name

He trotted on the Moonlit Trail
The man’s Face, held no Shame
As Tears were rolling down His Jaw
I saw this, Very Plain…

I could tell He was A-Hurtin’
Something was Mighty Grim
I pulled up slowly Beside
… and I asked Him …

Cowboy … It’s a Cold Night
Why are you out on the Range?
There aren’t any Cattle Here …
And There are no more wild Mustangs

It’s a Cold Night out here Cowboy
For you to take a Ride
It’s a Lonely Night out here Cowboy
With Nobody at Your Side

It’s Somethin’ you never get Used To
You can Fake it… like You Do…
… But It’s a Cold Night out here, Cowboy… Come Inside…
It’s gonna’ get Colder, Soon… You Better Hide…

… At First, He looked at the Night Sky
and then, He Turned to My Face
and Underneath the Shadowed Brim
His Eyes looked Hard and Glazed

He said, “Hon, I’m a Rare Breed
I get Real Lonely in Town
I’m More at Home, where I Roam
and Hear the Wolf and Rattlesnake – Sound

I was Once a Rodeo – Star
Now, I’m just a Wanted Outlaw
And there ain’t Nothing You Can See
That I haven’t Saw …

… except, My Son,
 By my Ex-Wife – Annie
She Married my Once Best Friend, Sam
They Raising My Boy, Will, to call Him Daddy …

… and I ain’t Seen my dog, Quickdraw
In 10 Days …
… and You Think, This Cold-Spell, Could Bother Me?...”
and then, He nudged His Horse, and Galloped on His Way…

… Well, by the Time, I made it into Town
There was a Real Big Traffic Jam
Police had Blocked Off a part of The Road
and then, I heard… ‘Bam ! Bam ! … Bam ! …

… it was then, I saw the Riderless Horse
Standing Still … but Untied
And The Outlaw, Clutched His Chest
… as He Died … …

… and the Dog, Quickdraw, was Whining
by His Side …

It’s a Cold Night out here Cowboy
The Prairie Breeze was Singing
It’s a Bad Night Out Here Cowboy
The Midnight Stars Were Blinking …

They Knew You were Headed into Town
So You could Face a Final Showdown
To try to find some Heat to Warm Your Heart
… was a Cold Night, when You Decided to Depart

The Silver Lining of Therapeutic Words

Compassionate auras is what I see
When you talk your talk so gleefully
You are searching for the light in goodbye at the break of dawn,
But find yourself someone to have a sincere shoulder to cry upon

So sick of the small talk these days and sick of walking the same old route
You know what I'm talking about – the hopelessness, drowning us in doubt
Save me as I slowly fall away into the heartless abyss
Kill the helplessness inside and give in to happiness

Confidently, you talk by experience
It amazes me – your unique radiance
Kill me with your kindness and thrill me with your thundering might once more
I don't want to be left behind and please don't shut the front door on me anymore

Memories of you fade in my mind unfortunately
I fear letting go of my insanity into the whirlpool of confusion frankly
Honestly, I am probably this broken record in your life…a never-ending tune of move-on
Isn't it bizarre that I know your weaknesses and strengths all by heart? I can go on and on about it, hon

Your touch, you held me with your cold, chamber-like hands
Loved you so much, but you're like an airplane, landing on foreign lands…
Never landing on the precious land of my understanding apparently
Never-ending like the numerous sand in the beach of pure prosperity

Struggling to see the beauteous sun as I swim this shimmering shore,
Hidden amongst clouds of uncanny uncertainty
I am lost in my dark cave and I wonder if I'll ever be braver than before…
Also lost in the forbidden forest of glistening gravity

There's a silver lining beyond sinking below the surface of serenity
There's a silver lining of simply letting go and accepting reality for what it truly is…have some hopefulness
There's a silver lining in your prudent, compassionate auras ardently
There's a tragedy in reverse in your miraculous life of strife and peace that leads to unconditional happiness

So weep not, for God is near…
You've sought a heart without fear…
There's a silver lining everywhere on Earth
You must hold on to it dear like remedial mirth
