Twas the night before Christmas, and all was still. Well everything apart from old nanny Lil.
The old bird was nearly one hundred and two, and time is quite short, when you need a poo.
Poor granny was caught short, and started to worry. Behind her she left a trail of slurry.
When she finally made it onto the loo, all you heard was a fart belch splatter and ooooh.
She walked out the loo with hop and a skip, and slipped in the slurry and broke her hip.
So in the hospital was where Lilly spent Christmas day. In hindsight it’s probably better that
way.
The kids all call her Mrs. Craggy
She wears her dresses torn and baggy
Don't throw your balls into her yard
To get them back will be quite hard
The story goes she killed her hubby
Drowned him in the old bath tubby
They say she'll stew a little kid
If in her house they don't stay hid
She has close to a hundred cats
Instead of birdies she has bats
Don't go up there to her old house
Unless you're quiet as a mouse
Cos if she catches you, you're done
She'll kill you with her old shotgun
Mrs. Craggy's scary and mean
Especially on Halloween!
The night was quiet
the sounds of the crisp
footprints pressing in the snow.
We gathered together
Into the old Nash we all jumped
Dad was driving mama sat shotgun.
We sang jingle bells
My favorite was Silent Night
Mama sang high while papa sang bass.
Just around the bend
The snow piled high in the yard
The coal stoves burned hot, smells of burnt wood too.
The turkey a cook'n
In that big old cook stove of Grandma's
Christmas Day was full of laughter and so much fun.
Now as I look back
I think of all those delightful memories
The ones that were the best were at Grandma's house.

T hanksgiving, yes that's when we have delicious Tom Turkey.
He has 2 drumsticks on the end of his feeT...
U nderneath Old Tom is a big fat juicy breast.
Some people on Thanksgiving prefer just the breast do yoU
R unning to and fro in the field, it's hard to catch Old Tom.
If this were a movie Old Tom would be the staR
K eeping fat and sassy, he stays ready until
a few days before Thanksgiving, and guess who they seeK
E veryone is ready to see that rascal roasted golden
brown and sitting on a platter in the middle of the tablE
Y es the turkey is stuffed and on the table ready.
Everyone count your blessings. For it's Thanksgiving DaY
Thanksgiving Dinner
is ready to be served,
the fat turkey is steaming on the table;
sparkling apple cider and wine
to wash it down as we delight
in its delectable smell and taste,
and who would eat it in haste?
Silence has filled the dining room at six,
heads bow and everyone joins in prayer...
and whom will we thank as our Lord and God?
His name is rarely or never spoken...
a Holy Name of the Old Testament not to be invoked?
Who are the hypocrites who dare not speak it,
and if some of us believe we can do without it:
we find ourselves down the dark road alone...
and He will not carry us through our old age,
to provide for us, to sustain us when we lack courage
and faith...that He will do exactly what He has promised!
