The Goldenrod King has come to bless us once again
I smile this morning as I open my window to cool air and a warm kiss from early falls favorite child
How bright he is under the muted sun and clouded sky
His heavy yellow tendrils already so busy, his lovely arms outstretched for every butterfly, dragonfly and bee

Metro Louisville streets, the promise of a stiff drink
A 20 sack of weed
Heavy blankets in the back when I need to dream
Hand warmers from Dollar Tree
A few one dollar can teas.
Its week three,
Flattened in the back seat
In the winter, freezing
Swiping left and right for warm sheets and a release
Tonight I wont worry about where I will sleep
I only packed enough food for a week
Eating is a treat

CINDERELLA GOLDENROD
The June garden is overflowing with summer colour.
The dresses are gorgeous. The Prince is dazzled.
In the corner, Cinderella in drab green looks sad;
But the clock ticks. In August, the Prince of the Sky
Will see her clusters of emberglowing yellow flowers.
She’ll be the belle of the ball.

Note. All gardeners love the bright, late showing of Goldenrod, after the other flowers have gone.
