These stories usually start out with once upon a time
This is an expensive book, it cost sixty dollars and a dime
Full of Grimm’s faerie tales, none of them that rhyme.
I watch the characters peek out, the ones that climb.
There are the three little pigs, two are small, one is big.
Beauty is missing, but the Beast is here, horns scrolled like twigs.
Pinocchio is readily picked out due to his elongated nose.
Thank goodness Cinderella is wearing her best evening clothes.
Peter Rabbit should not be in this book at all, it’s not his story.
But he will not stay where he is put, he is sneaky in all his glory.
Snow White is missing, but Rose Red has left her rose with a thorn.
Little Bo Peep, where are you? I guess her lambs are getting shorn.

She is sparkling in the sky, so glittery and gold,
She is radiance itself, on a sapphire threshold!
Her gowns change colors, at dawn and at dusk,
With hours in between, very gilded and robust.
The cool mistress of night, calm and composed,
Wears her gleaming pearls and evening clothes.
And in beauty of twilight, she dances with stars,
Lighting up dark night, with help from red Mars.
