The gravity of the wave of deceit has pulled political integrity
To its lowest ebb and flow, smothering morality with quagmires
Of electorial power abuse and sarcastic expositions of vanity.
Republic--Democratic--ideas, once held in high esteem
Have become veiled, vacuous words wallowing in party mud;
And our home--country has fallen into moral bankruptcy. But
We must refuse to accept that the vault of resolution is empty!
As with Noah, the turbulent times treacherously trot trust's road,
Inundated with pompous potholes of indignant, twittered "isms".
The Star Spangled Banner is a distant echo and America The Beautiful
Has been recalled. Her amber waves frothing on the shores of deceit.
How long will we willfully play dice with the fate of a drowning nation?
How long must we allow "...crippling fear...like a nagging hound of hell...
Pursue our every footstep..." with shattering winds of depression?

Politicians make empty promises
In order to get elected.
They may have even believed them once
On the day that they got selected.
But how long before they realise they are living in fantasy land
And that things are not likely to turn out just as they had planned?
Politicians never give straight answers
When a deviation can be found.
Do they really think that it will
Put them on electorial solid ground?
They promise to bring us jobs and help our wealth increase.
Just another wasted saying. When will they ever cease?
We elect them to run our country.
But do they really deserve our trust?
In the absence of anyone else
I suppose that we must.
Such is our democracy, a privilege of the west.
But sometimes I do wonder is it really for the best?
Poilitics confuses me.
More so by the hour.
Or am I right that they say what they do
Just to stay in power.
Are their empty words just another trap?
The more I think of it I realise, politics is a load of crap.
