Ever have a quiet night like this?
the bluejays and mockingbirds tucked away under crapemyrtle leaves
winking stars whispering goodnight to lovers kisses
I'm sitting here in low-light listening to Louis Armstrong. My breath warm with red wine, a soft glow in my cheeks and a certain light in my eye. I don't know what it is, but it's there. Smooth jazz tumbling, prancing through my ear. something in my gut, something way down low. I think the juju bees had heard something, something I do not know. I think about, I think about things sweetly forgotten in memory. I can't get over a sentimental mystery, something perched in the limbs of the cherry tree. Swing low sweet chariot, bumpin down the line. Don't you remember mother, my brother-sister of that time? Zuuzuu zabi, dweeeeeee dweedle dweedle dweedweedweezow.
