We all want equality of freedom
Yet they boo Africans of racism
How come colour concocted a disease
Day by day, we continue recording deportees
Even in our own theatre
At those who dressed native; we flutter
But we go nutter
To foreign dress; as we mutter admiringly like an orator
Not our culture or its prestige we groove on
More confident to countermove and condemn
Yet we cherished to be one
To achieve the counterterrorism is what am still to fathom
It seems we wish to forget our Origin
Then if the foundation is faulty
How would we help our dudgeon
When we do not live for our dreams' actuality
The cops with "Counterterrorism"
Splayed upon their vests
Alert us to the fact that they're
All set to make arrests.
They eyeball every passenger
In search of someone who
May secretly be plotting
To cause harm to me or you.
At one time I was comforted
By having them around,
Believing that their presence
Helped to keep us safe and sound.
But now it's more unnerving,
Like the sighting of a fungus,
For it makes me wonder if there is
A terrorist among us.
