i see a sun that never sets,
that enlighten inner quest,
by transcending hearts gate
to overcome lives fade
i see a sun that never sets,
burns stoically for the rest
to help achieve forbidden glory
of those lives gloomy
I see a sun that never sets,
for millions pride sake
breaking law of nature
like a rebel dares death
i see a sun that never sets
and he is a man on mission
with sublime noble reason
to fight human discrimination
i see a man surmount a sun
brilliant high in the sky
nevertheless refusing to lie
unlike a sun that sets everyday
truly Dr. Ambedkar, a dalit icon
is the only sun, dalits reckon
and world shall not witness
any other sun that never sets

Form:
On the pier, looking out,
The lake is waving all about.
The sun is setting,
Pink and orange colors, the lake is getting.
I watch the colors glistening,
It's time! Are you listening?
The sun just touched the lake,
Did you hear the sizzle that it makes?
Watching the final colors slowly fade away,
A peaceful ending to a busy day.
Form:
When the sun disappears from our presence
Hidden away by huge orbs of dark clouds
Spirits become forlorn, emotions tensed
Our focus is lost, and we float about.
As if we just lost our best friend, we mourn
The days when the sun made it all sublime
We could see our life and future far out
Sure, all of our dreams would come true in time.
Suddenly it all disappears from view
Fears enter our being, and hopes are gone
Whisked away by menacing threats of doom
We blame the elements for this let down.
In so doing, we fail to see the truth
That we were made in the image of God
That within us lie the strength, the virtues
And vision to reach beyond our look out.
In truth, the sun shines on, even when shunned
By storm cloud like forces out of its grasp
That oppose its purpose, till once again
It breaks through and in its rays we bask.

He said
Look at here boy
Aint nothing worst than life
But you might as well live
And times are coming
For better or worse
You might as well hold on
I’m still here
And until I die
I’ll be the same man
He says
Boy I’m still here
And until I die
I’ll be the same man
I said father
I’m going to move away from the river
I’m going to be a city man
He said, sun down, it’s getting late
And you’ll have all night to chase those dreams
He said son now
Your mother calls so goodnight
I’m still here
And until I die
I’ll be the same man
He says
Boy I’m still here
He wasn’t my real father I can’t even call him that
Around a southern sun he marched in a straw hat
It’s a hundred degrees outside he must be crazy
Seventy-six and he takes on the humidity
Better than me
He says
World war II was nothing new
You should’ve seen Vietnam
He says you see boy
I’m still here
And until I die
I’ll be the same man
RIP S.G.
I’ve fallen in love
With the beauty of
How the sun sets at the beach,
Leaving you without speech.
The beach gets quiet,
Gone is the daytime riot.
The sun sets in that big pink sky
Revealing the stars on high.
Life can be so taxing
And the sunset is so relaxing.
It takes your breath away
This sight at the end of every day.
So next time you get the chance
To stop for more than a glance,
For Heavens sake do so,
And let me know
Your thoughts when you see
That which is true beauty.
The sun shines for you.
So why are you so blue?
To your heart you must be true.
Which sometimes is hard to do.
You know what makes you happy.
You know what makes you sad.
Then why are you torturing yourself so bad?
I know you love what you have.
But you long for things you can`t.
Changing from simple to very complicated.
Something you've not anticipated.
So put a smile upon your face.
And walk head held high out of this place.
The world is yours to chose what to do.
The sun shines for you.
Form:
The early morning sun peeks in through my window
And I have to awake once sun light kisses my face
The first sound I hear, and my favorite of all
Are the chirping hummingbirds, resting
Upon the trellis where honeysuckle winds
They seem to beckon me, come greet the day!”
Hurried bare feet patter on cool hard wood floor
As I head towards the kitchen making sure the clock is right
It's too late for breakfast, but the coffee machine softly hums
Hmmm! Delicious! Coffee always smells so divine!
It’ not quite noon, but kids are already at the pool
Splashing loudly, “Marco Polo!” They serenade
There goes the ice cream truck, slowly rolling down some street
Playing nursery rhyme jingles making stops along the way
Children screeching, with Moms’ admonishing
Ice cream, for the moment, is all they can see
Down to the beach, later, I am sure to go
Where lively ocean waves, Smack the crowded shore
As sea gulls screech, and fight over their meal
And laughter erupts from kids, big and small
In the cool of the evening with the sun ending its watch
The smooth sounds of a lone saxophone, rides the breeze
jazzy and so cool! Wafting in the air for all to enjoy
All these are, my most memorable sounds of a hot summer’s day!
