Best Thank Youtime Poems

Thank You For Your Sacrifice

Help given is a wonderful thing.
Giving of your time is quite suitable.
Giving your money, unselfishness showing.
Laboring to clean this world is also very noble.

Yet there is one type of person that stands out
The one that says I will go at the drop of a ball.
Not asking why or where on the commanded shout,
But, stands ready and willing to heed the call.

These are the ones that protect our freedom.
That give us a security that not many know.
They leave families not sure when they will see them.
They sign their name not knowing where they will go.

Our armed forces are the elite of humanity.
They serve not only the US but humankind.
Some giving their life, some their sanity.
All to protect the ones they leave behind.

So I say THANK YOU to the families of the graves now visited.
For the time you have given and family memories lost.
I say THANK YOU, to each veteran and those now enlisted.
For you go even though some have and will pay the ultimate cost.

Be Garfield For More Than a Day

Let's face it you're getting old
You can't deny it
Your time has come to retire
You didn't get fired, more like you quit

You say you'll miss us
But I know that's not true
You're glad to be home
You'll pretend to be Garfield, that's what you'll do

You might miss having something to do
But tv will take it's place
You'll kick back and relax
Next time I see you, you'll have a real smile on your face

So enjoy your retirement
Be Garfield for more than a day
You've served your time in this prison (school)
But tech. it's time to be on your way

Nice Guy Mechanic, Paul Cash, Part Two

That little drive ~ filled ~ waiting cars
just others, counting "lucky stars"
Paul did it right, not many marrs!

Paul also was this small town's cop
to just curb violence, drinking's flop
so many years can use you up!

One time Paul came on 911
a possum ventured in our house
the cupboards clutter was its run!

A blanket in his swarthy hands
he grabbed the possum taking heed
down to the River ~ they'd proceed!

One time when I was in a wreck
he came to fill in his report
I'd broke most all, except my neck!

He knew the guy ~ a careless sort
who owned the town, riches resort
a stop sign never quelled his sport!

Paul vowed to catch the guy at bay
and parked nearby this guy's outlay
it just went on ~ til fateful day!

The guy turned over in a ditch
taking the light pole with its wires
the 911 not called, no switch!

Don't tell the town its favorite boy
had met his match
through his own play!

Our town's "nice guy" in every way
Paul made it by his real concern,
not harnessed by the upper class!

Paul gave his best ~ until the last!

Paul Cash expired 4-26-2010 this year. There were so many in
attendance, that the town had rented the High School Gym, cars
overflowing, the town shared its heart that day!

How many nice small town guys do you know! Not trying to be #1 at any Super Sport!

I Am So Thankful

I Am So Thankful
By Rick Rucker

I am so Thankful for this Life,
Though there has been some Pain and Strife,

It has been the greatest Gift,
The memories do always lift,

Me, when I feel a little Down,
Cheer me up, like a clown.

But the most Blessed thing I see,
Our time Together, You, and Me!

If that were all I had,
I would be ever happy, never Sad!

In our brief Time together,
You have helped me to weather,

Some pretty turbulent Seas,
And you do it with relative Ease!

All it takes is your Magic Touch,
Our private time I love so much.

I feel so blessed for the Love I have found,
Which will warm me, all year ‘round,

To You, I would like to say,
I don’t need to wait for Thanksgiving Day!

I've been feeling very guilty lately. I don't want any of you to think I don't give a hoot,
because I've never felt more welcomed since I joined this wonderful community known as
Poetry Soup.
I've received so much constructive feedback from the many who have taken the time to
review my work,
and yet I just can't seem to find the time to read your works of deep thought and rhyme
and it's left me feeling like an ungrateful jerk,
but I promise one day I will find a way to check out all of your creativity.
I know there's a lot of talent out there with great poetry to share
which I'm sure will also serve as great inspiration for me.
Thank you all so very much for your kind words. I'm truly touched
and I say the following with the utmost sincerity,
I don't only see all of you as my colleagues, I feel like you're all part of my family.
