Longing For September

football season's over,
the fans are feelin' down;
nothing but vacant memories,
no more football to be found!

whether it's college or the pros,
no more gatherings in the den;
the offseason's torturous,
i'll miss my beer-bellied friends!

no more mondays on the sofa,
after a stressful day at the job;
the "hooplah" tragically ceases,
while our hearts painfully throb!

so long to all the bowl games,
weekends are such a bore;
take us home to september,
where football lives once more!
