Best Seasonsheart Poems
For you, my love, I’ll be a single rose
of crimson hue, and velvet to the touch.
So warm in contrast to your fallen snows,
yet yearning for the thrill of winter's clutch.
Soft petals form a heart so firm and true,
unyielding to the tempest of your reign,
and though a cold wind nurtures doubt in you,
such purity of love I could not feign.
Dilemmas of the soul so keenly felt.
Bestow my love? or must it stay a dream?
for if I warmed your heart 'twould surely melt
and I would lose you to the flowing stream.
And so, my love, this single rose I’ll hide
and keep the love I feel for you inside.
By Carolyn Devonshire
Two hearts we carved in the budding tree
One heart for Peter, one for me
Fifteen, fresh as the season
Breeze brushed love to our lips
Sharing our first kiss
The heart remains
Tree has grown
Love once
Bloomed
*For Michael Falotico’s contest: Nonet Me a Spring Kiss
Once copious, my heart, like trees lie bare.
Beneath dark skies are bursts of white despair
as winter chill takes toil down fallow road.
I can't remember warmth of times bestowed.
Take what you will from winter's stormy thrill,
but I shall hibernate in summer still.
Flamed tea nor fireplace can warm me not.
Not even spring can thaw this frigid spot.
Within this crypt, ‘neath gelid canopy,
on frozen bed, death lays and waits for me.
Slow beating pulse to hold this dormant state,
for it's my heart the frost did desecrate.
If set afire, still, I'll shiver through.
Not even flames will melt my heart like you.
a rainbow poem.
watching the rainbow in the sky,
the way it looks it is so high,
it shines its beauty all over land,
it fills my heart like no one can,
across the medows
it fully glows.
the colours shine
like made in gold,
reaches high above the sky,
touching your heart
with a warmth inside,
the way it shines all over sea,
the way it looks its close to me,
over the water and over the streams
look at the colours
it makes you dream,
red and yellow and pink and green
orange and purple and blue,
all the colours that are for seen
makes the heart gleam for you,
the way it glows there is no compare
the way its sparkles in the air,
shinning its light all over trees,
what is this beauty we see,
standing for hours watching it drift
its saying farewell in the morning mist,
as when its gone the sun shines high,
taking its part to warm the sky,
when will i see you again o rainbow
what are the secrets that you do hold,
in our hearts your not a dull old cloud
when you show up
there is love around,
watching the sky and all around
as never to know
where you will be found,
half a circle that,s glittered with gold
o dear rainbow my heart you do hold,,
Freedom come at last to bloom
Kiss the cheek of fall
In the mist of evergreen
I follow but a call
Atop this hill I spread my wings
Carry, breath of air
Long a heart in silence
Whisper words so fair
Near the river I await
Carried by a hope
Eyes and ears the silence greet
At the healing oak
May the heart know silence
Rest that lies therein
Only to awake at dawn
Rest me at the glen
I have come an end
