The Unpoetic

I should have been contented with squeezing out
neat verses from jumbled, random thoughts,
with fashioning stanzas pretending profundity,
and with dashing off lines of serious lyrical nonsense.

I should have been detached and insulated
from pedestrian dalliances with the raw jubilations
and searing sorrows of the all-too-familiar souls.

I should have taken to heart the art of being aloof
to the stirrings of the mind about what to you
are such artless triflings with good and evil,
with justice and inequity, with ethics in politics.

Then I would have been to you a true poet,
your cold comrade at the shrine of your stoic art
of the brain, not of the heart.. but I'm the unpoetic.

Hallmark

no degree in romance
yet learning to say the right things
moving on from inner turmoil
to life's beauty
The passion of everyday being beautiful
changing my perspective
the right words that work
for these thoughts count
and slow us down to appreciate finer things
abstract art and poetry
i wonder how many will find their calling
practicing what they would say
til they get it right
write it down
paint it
and put it all together
for that moment comes for many
with no gift of words
a lover's game mapped out
from card to card
he would need this
she would return with this
they then come together
a hallmark gift
the art of seduction
in everyday stores
any day is valentine's day
and hallmark works toward your happy ending

A romantic interactive card game
for two lovers
purchasing art and poetry
following suit and taking tricks
for the hearts that would care to follow
what way do you say this
when they say it best
purchasing romance
one card
one envelope
for true lover's know
there is no end to the story of destiny
but they have mapped it out for you
poem by poem
so many could get their hearts biggest wishes

A Cheap Chance

Now I know I have a cheap chance
To reach my fans in France,
To give them a glee and great glance
Of how my pen can drum and dance.
Don’t be scared, this is a true trance.
My pen is lovely, livelier than lance,
No wonder… my pen do prance
Whenever I get the soupers’ stance.
Rhymes and rhythms of real romance
I’m posting from a daring distance;
Lyrics and lore of sweet substance,
You can get in my bag in abundance.
I’m giving you an art assurance,
This is not just a boast of brilliance
It’s neither an expression of exuberance
Lest you be caught in any form of annoyance.
Poetrysoup has got art allowance,
All you need is curiosity and compliance;
You may be an addict or acquaintance
Yet the poets here will blow you of balance.
