Change At Hand

The fallen snow procured
Itself with the earth all winter
As spring enters its warm winds,
The snow-transformed-from its frozen home
Begins its path of deviance carving the weak soil
Conveying the grieving trusting earth down river
Where the surmounting horror ends;
Only after a twisted ride does the soil find refuge
In the bottom of a lake;
Where momentarily is thought of as unimportant
By its self and others;
But, a change is at hand; a change is at hand.

2012

It's not a subject into which I like to delve
But the ancient Mayans predicted something would happen in 2012.

Not knowing themselves of its restrictions
They could not foresee the impact of their predictions.

Scholars have argued about it for years
Only to ramp up the population with fears.

Some predict that so many planets will align
That there will be a great celestial sign.

Others believe that the poles of the earth will change
Causing catastrophes, both great and strange.

I, for one, am of a different thought
Believing that that year will have a great and wonderful change brought.

It will be something that for millions will bring relief
For such is the strength of their common belief.

We dream about it in our slumbers
     Yes, 2012 are "Magic Numbers".

"What change will happen?" you ask in your queries
Only one so grand . . . the CUBS WILL WIN THE WORLD SERIES!

Premium Member Oh, Scathing Wind/ Pantoum Poem

Oh, Scathing Wind, by many names you go.
When breezes change for fury, how you rage!
Such merciless omnipotence you show;
The ruin you have wrought, no man can gauge.

When breezes change for fury, how you rage.
A Hound of Hell, you bluster and you wail.
The ruin you have wrought, no man can gauge.
Relentless, you’re a tempest none can quell.

A Hound of Hell, you bluster and you wail.
And as you swell, we feel your ire increase.
Relentless, you’re a tempest none can quell.
We cower as we plead for you to cease!

And as you swell, we feel your ire increase.
You strike with thunder, snowfall, sleet or dust.
We cower as we plead for you to cease.
Peace! Be gone -Tornado, Gale or Gust!

You strike with thunder, snowfall, sleet or dust.
Such merciless omnipotence you show.
Peace! Be gone - Tornado, Gale or Gust;
Oh, Scathing Wind, by many names you go!

The Power of Love (Part 5)

The Fifth Day

Beneath the waters
Creatures grew; finned and mammals
The sea was their habitat
Until some emerge
Out of the water
Some creatures grew big and tall
But with their presence, the small
Did not have much chance.
It was a failure.
Like a displeased artist, God
Had to bring a change that would
Fit his plan better.
Spring had been long gone
The summer had been quite hot
Autumn, a memory that
Left a sense of cold.
All the creatures sensed
A change in the air, strife like
That threatened their very life
And the earth entered
The dreaded ice age.
Then on one fine day, the change
The meltdown; new life emerged
Quadrupeds appeared
With fur of colors
Some spotted, others with stripes
Some large, some tall, others small
Some tamed, some quite wild.
Beautiful animals
Living in forests or plains
Some in prairies and mountains
Others in jungles.
There were those that flew
With wings and bodies feathered
Male and female; attributes
Of the Creator.

A Rippling Stream

Life is like a rippling stream that constantly is flowing
You’re just a bubble in that stream not knowing where you’re going
Twists and turns come suddenly and catch you unaware
But you ride upon the current; the twists and turns your fare
When rocks and logs get in the way, you somehow flow around them
You don’t let yourself get bogged down with the drama that surrounds them
The stream’s sometimes so quiet; you can almost hear things think
Then all at once it gets so loud your eyes begin to blink
And then it changes once again for no un-Godly reason
And this goes on for years and years and season after season
And there are bigger things my friends that come upon the stream
Disrupting how the water flows; disturbing all your dreams
Then in a fleeting moment you look and they are gone
And just like that you realize that you too have moved on
Sure you’ll come upon some rapids and perhaps a waterfall
Just bask in the excitement; don’t freeze in fear and stall
At times you’ll find a quiet pond and stay right there awhile
But the winds will change and in a bit you’ll have gone another mile
My stream’s down to a trickle but I know it’s not the end
The winds will change and pretty soon I’ll be off around the bend
I don’t know where it will take me, but I won’t be denied
I can’t wait to see what’s next; I’ve so enjoyed this ride
