Premium Member Winter's Kiss

The bird’s house is capped with a snow drop.
The bird’s bath is a mushroom like form.
The branches all groan, snap, crackle, pop,
with the weight of the night’s snow so borne.

The cat’s on the rug near kitchen vent.
The furnace is pumping out more heat.
The tea kettle’s whistling with intent.
The old gal settles down with a sweet.

The car’s all shrouded, a sheet of white.
The trellis is a grand work of art.
Outdoors the benches all gleam with ice.
The new moon’s a rare, randy, upstart.

Darkness descends will a muffled whisper.
She sips tea and remembers who’s kissed her.

Premium Member A Beach Without Water

A beach without any water is a desert
Nachos without any cheese is a chip
A ski slope without any snow is a hillside
Me without you is no relationship

A zebra without any stripes is a donkey
A fountain without spray is a statue
Valentines Day without a lover is a bummer
And that’s exactly how I feel without you

Please be the water for my desert
Please be the cheese upon my chip
Please be the snow on my hillside
Please be in my relationship

Please be the stripes on my donkey
Please be the spray for my statue
Please be my lover every single day
Please never let me be without you

(NOTE: This poem was inspired by my 6 year old son. We are going to the beach this week-
end and he asked me, “Will there be water near the beach?” That gave birth to the first line
of this poem, which started my thoughts in motion.)

A Cold Calling...

have you ever watched your
footprints gradually disappear
in the snow that's coming
down like a frozen tear
sometimes I lose my way
in the path that I walk down
and I try not to look back
at my footprints on the ground
love sometimes fades like those
prints in the snow that's falling
and you just want to run away
but it just keeps on calling
calling you to stay

I know you've seen a light
that gets hazy in the snow
that looks like it has gone out
but we both know its still a glow
well I know that a lovers light
sometimes weakens to a spark
but in a lovers bedroom
lights flicker even in the dark
and love grows dim
in those flakes that are falling
and you just want to hide away
but it just keeps on calling
calling you to stay

have you seen a house crying
as you slowly walk past
from is icicle eyelashes
we both knew would never last
well I know that I have seen
this happen a time or two
I always try not to cry
with it each time that I do
sometimes love is like
that those tears falling
and you want it to just go away
but it just keeps on calling
calling you to stay

Vampiric Love Affair

There's a maiden in the forest whose skin is pale as snow.
She dwells in the forest and death is the only friend she knows.

She sings the song of lullabies with sudden sorrow and despair.
and her servants are like eunuchs with emotions that do not dare.

I did'nt understand I never understood
why she did'nt take me then why she never ever could.

She was'nt always good she was'nt always bad,
but all that she was, was all I ever had.

She could'nt be my lover she could'nt be my friend,
but my heart remained with her till the very bitter end.

She was young and she was old and time was always on her side.
but even time could'nt hold where she always had to hide.

She never knew the sun and she never knew the day,
but at night in the snow is when we use to play.

She's the addiction of every man's desire
the cohesiveness of metal melted by the fire.

She's the accomplished affection the emotion in my heart.
She's the sweetness in the sugar kneaded in a tart.

Her eyes are like the stars the constellations embracing the sky.
She's like the gland in my brain awakening the eye.

As she turns and walks away in the snow late at night,
into the forest into the darkness through the trees with no light.

as the tears hit the snow that fall from my face
at least I will know it was'nt blood that I taste

The Snow Fell

The snow is falling
The sky is dark
Nothing is normal
Since i met you at dark

Since that time
You've been on my mind
Since that time
Your all that i have said

And as i go to bed
I pray and hope
I'll see you again

Your walking up behind me
The dock is silence
The wind is still
The waves are calmer then out sea

Sitting down next to me
You tell me stories
Of how you used to be

I listen so inventively
I didn't see the snow
And After that
I never again saw you

Because you left the snow fell
The snow that i now see
The snow is falling
And so are we.

Without a Trace

a million dreams without a face
that leave at dawn without a trace
planted deep they bloom and flower
only in the late, late hours

summer coursed through lover's veins
autumn came and love remained
leaving with the first snow fall
ice and cold that dashes it all

months of blatant disbelief
shoveling feelings without relief
my heart not able to take a snow day
it worked overtime packing it away

April comes and so do you
whistling again a heartfelt tune
some days filled with beauty and wonder
a song that threatens to take me under

you give a little and take a lot
resurrecting what I once forgot
summer tries to course through veins
clogged and blocked with love's remains

Love In the Snow

As day breaks for one and all

for i see the gentle snow fall over the grounds

i take your hand

we walk for miles upon miles for our smiles never go

as you fall the gentle snow seems to tell a story

your eyes so blue
your face look so new
the smile seem to laugh out to the world

our body's in twined to each other

a powerful thought
love is for one and all my friend

as i hold you i never want to say goodbye

for i don't want my tears to fall once more

so my love please stand bye my side .

Precious

Precious is the moment the first snowflake hits the ground
The eyes of a child illuminate while taking in the view of snow
Seeing them run to the depths of white, only to sink and laugh

Precious is the joy of having helped another keep warm that winter
By placing your very coat upon the ones who need it even more
And seeing them smile back to you as you play with your children

Precious is the excitement of a puppy as it plays in the snow
Almost laughing we, chasing the flakes, having snow on its nose
Watching it jump from snow mound to snow mound, just seeking

Precious is taking some scraps to the dog that cries in the cold
That later becomes warmed by the love bestowed by your offering
Becoming a playful animal that in return only wishes you love

Precious…is love and caring
