This is my love list
Joey was my wife
She is gone and very much missed
My daughter Barbara was our first one
Then came my son James
My daughter Patricia the third one
Grandchildren are Megan and Alexandra
Boys are Nickolas and Connor
Back to girls Jacquelyn and Samantha
My kids in law I almost missed
Robert, Christopher and Suzanna
And my dog finished the list
William (Billy) Avery mailman extraordinaire for ten years
His beautiful loving wife, Irene, Loved beyond this World
I remember the day Billy was skipping down the sidewalks
Hey Billy ,what’s up You seem exuberantly Happy today
After ten years Irene is no longer barren, I’m going to be a father
It’s a Girl ,a gift from heaven , a Princess, a heavenly Angel
This is my daughter, my existence, my future Angel Maria Avery
The whole town watched the proudest Papa carrying his Angel
Door to door ; Here’s your mail this is my daughter Angel Maria
The years went on : Angel an Angel growing in Daddy’s heart
Sweet sixteen, Learner’s Permit in hand “Daddy can I drive?”
How could he say no ; To the Supermarket and right back home
Check your mirrors, adjust your seat , Seatbelt; and let’s go slowly
How am I doing Daddy, suddenly a thud, Daddy I hit a dog, panic
She hit’s the gas instead of the brakes: the oak tree didn’t move
Billy woke up ;something warm running in his eyes; ANGEL
She lay there covered in blood, Her cell phone; 981 Damn
My fingers are to big for these tiny numbers 911 Dispatch
What is Your emergency, My daughter and I have been in an accident
Is she conscious, No: Is she breathing :I don’t know I can’t move my legs
The Ambulance is on the way. ANGEL, ANGEL, A N G E L!!
Inspired by Gareth James Contest "Leave Me Hanging"
Wandering the fields of nature, breezes gently blowing by,
She captured the hearts of many; she was a beauty in their eyes.
The daughter of a god, Zeus, all powerful and strong
And Demeter, goddess of harvest, in her eyes, she did no wrong.
Persephone, the daughter, helped her mother tend the fields
The fertile land created, the prosperous harvest yields.
While wandering the field that day, the ground broke open wide
Hades, god of the underworld, came out and took his bride.
Into the depths of his lair, Persephone had descended
Hades came to steal the beauty, for as he had intended.
Zeus would not agree, to the marriage of the two
So, Hades did what he always felt he had to do.
Demeter, not knowing, searched the world, land and sea
In hopes of finding and bringing home, the girl Persephone.
While wandering and searching, the crops, they had all died.
For, they would never flourish, while Demeter searched and cried.
Zeus sent word to Hades, to send his daughter back home
But Hades, being tricky, had an idea all his own.
He had her eat some seeds from the fruit his garden yields
A pomegranate, cursed, a pact with him now sealed.
For when she took upon herself to eat of Hades’ seeds
She sacrificed her own wants and satisfied his needs.
As a result, she was bound to return to him each year
For a season long, she was gone and Demeter shed her tears.
Demeter, always wanting Persephone to have stayed
Gave up the crops for that time while she had gone away.
Each year she went to Hades, as bound, that was the reason
Unto the earth, Winter was born, the harvest’s downtime season.
From those days on, she would be known no longer as that girl
Taken as bride, she became the goddess of the underworld.
