Best Introspectionfriend Poems

Self Worth

Can we only judge ourselves
through other people's eyes?
Who's do we look through
to show us truth not lies?

Can we only gauge our worth
from others point of view?
Should we trust just anyone's
or be selective who?

Who gives the better portrait
is it either friend or foe
that shows us what we really are
and what we need to know?

A friend may fear to hurt us
a stranger has nothing to lose.
Who makes the picture clearer
who's opinion do we chose?

Is it how we see ourselves
that tells us how we rate?
Or do we need another soul
to give our value weight?

Running Out of Time

As I look down from here
I feel like I am falling
That is when I realize
It’s you my friend calling

I go out on a limb
To gather my harvest
I must make it through
Winter is the hardest

I have to climb up higher
To reach the best crop
But you my old friend
Always cause me to stop

I know you’re always with me
So I'm begging for your help
But I am still afraid
I’m just talking to myself

It’s starting to get colder
This summer was no fun
I have to get more food
Before this season's done

I’ll ask you once again
And face you with courage
Please leave me alone
While I put food in storage

I can hear you laughing
You think I’m just squirrely
I go through this each year
This fear makes my head swirly

I’ll go out a little more
I won’t look down, I'm fine
My friend you can’t go with me
I’m running out of time

My Friend

Oh, the freedom I have now!
Because I have finally found
A friend I haven’t seen for a while.
She’s beautiful
And full of life.
A mother, daughter, and a wife.
She knows how much
I mean to her.
She’s happy,
Because she knows her worth.
She loves me more than anything.
That friend I’ve found is me.

Premium Member "something"

“I am only one, but I am one,”
part of a quote from works of Edward Everett Hale.
He goes on to say that as one he cannot do everything
but as one he can do something.
He then went ahead and wrote “The Man Without a Country”,
and other memorable works.
As a writer and poet I cannot say everything
but I can say something.
I may not be remembered by everyone,
but if I am remembered somewhere by someone, it is something.
A friend of mine visiting another friend I do not know,
( she lives in another state where I have never been.)
noticed a poem attached to her refrigerator with magnets.
She was surprised to see that I was the author.
Her friend could not remember where she had found it.
However, it had touched her enough that she saved it
and placed it where she could read it again.
I was surprised and honored.
I had actually said something that had some meaning
to someone, at least momentarily.
For me, that’s truly something!

Just a Friend

I know what it means and what it doesn't
it isn't anything that I haven't read in a post
it is just a friend helping a friend
getting back on track from where it ended

I know how it started and the ups and downs
I know there isn't more or less to be wanted
it is just a friend helping a friend
supporting a need, that is all that it means

I know that I can depend on you
even when I call out of the blue
it is just a friend helping a friend
that's where it starts and how it ends
