Soft flame flutters gently before surrendering to darkness
                                   A wealth of golden glow
Your mind has been captured by dreams, pirates of the imagination
                                   Controlling your activity

One circle of gray light fades through the arch windows
                                You become spotlight bright
And I study your eyes as they dash
                             Through never-ever real land

Are you racing, trying to catch the runaway unicorn?
Steady, boy, this is your fantasy; let the legend come to you
Garnish him with a crimson saddle
And canter across hills of sweet poppies

Your yellow-brick road need not bear lions
Unless you wish to be their king
                             A color-splashed vision
                     Enhanced by your chestnut mane

And so you roll, and our waterbed rolls wave-like with you
Lions and unicorns dwell not within the sea
                                   So they vanish
Creating a tiny subconscious wrinkle of memory

Your fingers tighten, clinging to your raft
Tossed by the tides and waves
But Pan flutes from the banks’ hanging cliff
The turbulence subsides; you float smoothly o’er open sea

So you mellow your mood and follow your eyes
Up, up, it glares but does not burn
For the sun cannot hurt dreamer’s eyes
                                  Unless you let it

Stare as it slowly sinks to a spectral sunset
That becomes a rainbow because you see it that way
And your raft is now a craft, thirty feet, steel-plated
Sprouting rings of purple smoke and wings of green feathers

Your chariot, my lean and softly-lit friend,
Chases the sun across the sky to find your pot of gold
When the soft flame flutters gently
                      Before surrendering to darkness

The Sun

The sun finally came out and flirted today
It spread its happiness and warmth and made children come out and play.
How wonderful it was to see people coming out with smiles on their faces
and doing who can mow their lawn first races. The smell of barbeque was in the air
all day and night, thankyou sun have a good night

June Gloom

Just to provoke a little smile

The sun went into hiding
In the last month of spring
Had given much of its sun rays
Through the month of May.
Had heard so much complaint
And wondered why go through so much pain?

“Can't they see how pretty the flowers bloom
Just because I can shine through?
Can’t they hear the birds sing out loud
Because I beat the cold to a smoke out?
Can’t anyone smell the fragrance of blooming trees?
There’s so much good I give, can’t they see?”

The sun felt depressed and sad
It didn’t like feeling so bad
“One day, I am begged to come out
And when I do, I am wanted out.”
So the sun went into hiding
And none of its rays could be seen.

The clouds moved in silently
Spread throughout the sky evenly
Turning its days to fearsome gloom
It was the Month of June.
As if to make a point, the clouds went to war
Rain fell, lightning stuck, thunder roared.

After many days of clashing wails
The people bowed and prayed
Wondered why they had so complained
And pledged to never do it again.
And the sun was moved to come out
Smiling, it extended its power throughout.

Her Friends Call Her….. Sun Tea

O the glass jar waits for time
To turn her tea inside sublime

She takes her place among clay pots
Of Parsley, Bay leaf, Bergamot

Her friends have flown in from above
The Blue Jay, Cardinal, Mourning Dove

They sing! They dance! They gesture wildly!
Her amber liquid, did Sun kiss mildly!

And passing clouds with thunderous glee
Watch glass & Sun turn time to tea

And as the day bows to the night
She lifts her lid, pours sweet delight!

Father’s Day…..’10
Sharing a sunny morning with my potted and feathery friends, and my special guest, Sun
Tea

A Dream.

I laid my head down upon the shore
i dreamt a little space
i heard the great waves break and roar
The sun was on my side.

My lazy hands and fingers brown
played with the pebbles gray,
the waves came up and then down
most thundering and gay.

The pebbles, there were smooth and round
and warm upon my hand
like little people i had found
sitting among the sand.

the grains of sand so shinning small
soft through my fingers ran
the sun shore down upon it all
and so my dream began.

How all of this had been before,
how ages far away
i lay on some forgotten shore
as here i lay today.

I have forgotten when i came
or what my home might be
or by what strange and savaged name
i called this raging sea.

I only know the sun shone down
as it stiil shines today
and in my fingers long and brown
the little pebbles lay.

Just a Pawn March 4 2011

All that I am is twisted into knotts,
my chest is heavy, I can't breath.
I am being smothered by my own fears,
somebody please come set me free.

Wishing I was free from the voices in my head,
and the constant screaming in my ears.
I pray for just a moment of silence,
to make them magically disappear.

It's always busy upstairs,
there is never a dull moment.
There is constant movement from sun up to sun down,
and my sanity has all been spent.

There's nothing left but the voices I hear,
my insanity has all control.
I'm just a pawn in a never ending game,
all of it is eating away at my soul.

I feel tied down by leather straps,
with there many commands I must follow.
Held capative by my own mental defects,
hold back all emotions don't ever let them show.

Hello Shadows

Shadows imitate every thing in life
But it does not argue, fuss, or fight
And can be changed by the reflection of light
Your shadow will imitate everything that you do
For that shadow belongs to you.

The shadow of an object can
hide you from the sun
Not just you but every one.

Shadows have but one color (black)
And it is not belittled or put down
But accepted by all you see
Which makes it one of gods mysteries.

It can be seen in the sunlight
But not in the dark
It can even be seen with artificial light
And the kids have fun with it
Man ! What a sight.

It has no face to show emotions
And it will always be by your side
Although at times it must hide.
The sun can not touch it , as it stares up at you
This is something the sun can not do.

The shadow will walk in front of you
Or in back, or walk on your sides
But will always be there wherever you go
For it is something that we all know
And to my shadow I say “hello”.
